It’s already December and he’s running out of time. Throwing a royal ball to find a suitable man for the role of husband seems like the king’s only option…until he meets Nathan. This royal has always done things his own way—and maybe now it’s time to go rogue.
Nathan Pratt doesn’t want much from life except to raise his son and be happy. Dating isn’t on this single father’s radar until he sees Charles in the castle solarium and his heart goes out to the sad-looking man. Once he meets Charles, he starts to think love might be possible. There’s just the small issue of Charles being the king…
Will Nathan be able to handle the glare of the spotlight with Charles beside him, or will the notoriety that comes with dating a royal be too much?
REVIEW:
Ahh, that was one fine royal read!
Before the end of the year, in less than a month, King Charles needs to find a husband.
If not he’ll lose the crown. All because of his ex-stepmother, if he doesn’t succeed Earl of Lender will take over his position. Ugh!
Nathan is thirty-two, a well-trusted man, a single dad living in Lysianna. He works two jobs to hold his head above, as a tutor and in the archives.
In the Castle’s solarium, he meets a kind man who looks a bit sad. Cheering him up seems to work. They exchange numbers and will meet sometime.
The man in question is the king, Nathan doesn’t recognize him and Charles doesn’t want Nathan to know who he really is. Just for now, to see if he’s honest.
When he’s finally honest to Nathan about who he is, Nathan is disappointed and demands Charlie to leave.
The earl plays a quite dirty game to get the throne. Nathan and Charles decide to announce a marriage, it’s fake, but no one will know.
Nathan wants the best for Charles, even if he ends up with a broken heart.
This was a super-fast-paced read, with instant attraction/love. It was quite sweet until the end was near and it got dirty, nasty, hurtful, and complicated. But the sweetness stayed central.
You could even say the story was a bit over-dramatic and theatrical but I didn’t mind. For the total picture, it all matched well.
A lot is happening, besides a blooming love, some people don’t want to give them a happy ending. Thank goodness they have the best hea!
Overall an exciting story, quite fast-paced, slightly developed, attractively written, and hugely entertaining!
