Some days married life is great. And some days your husband’s demon magic sets the bed on fire. But rock star Kris Starr wouldn’t have it any other way. And if living together costs them a mattress or two, that’s fine — he’ll just have to make sure Justin knows how much Kris loves him.
Justin’s still getting used to his newly expanded powers. They’re unpredictable, and they want to be used. Kris says everything’s fine, but Justin’s worried: what if he accidentally hurts Kris?
Fortunately, Justin’s husband’s also an empath … and very good at knowing what he needs.
REVIEW:
In the spirit of Halloween I chose this short as this week’s Saturday Special. This is just a short story but it’s a great intro to K.L. Noone’s series The Demon World. It’s free and really needs no introduction, though we do join a couple in progress. The novel that introduces us to this fiery couple is A Demon for Midwinter which is also available on Amazon or is available for free e-book loan on HOOPLA. The series The Demon World has seven works altogether. Two are free on Amazon, with more available as e-books for free-loan through HOOPLA.
K.L. Noone is adept at presenting likable characters and imaginative clear story-lines and I’m now curious how the longer works will go, and how much deeper the character development and world building will be.
This tale is a cute short that deals with the downside of bedding a fire demon. It’s actually pretty amazing how quickly the reader feels invested in these two. It’s certainly worth the reading time and is a fun freebie.
Since this one starts immediately AFTER sex and fades to black before things heat up again, I am torn as to whether this should be tagged Sweet-no sex, or slow-burn. I’d not previously read anything by this author, but now I’ve got a number of new additions to my “must read” list.
