True mates are one in a million, but what happens when Christopher’s assumes he’s already mated?
Christopher is a pregnant, asexual, steamy phone-line operator. A combination sure to scare any potential alpha away. Little did he know that being seen with his roommate would be the thing that makes his true mate run.
After a misunderstanding of giant proportions and a reality check from his co-worker, Parker realizes his mistake. Despite the baggage Parker is carrying around, he’s willing to do whatever it takes to make this up to Christopher. Thankfully, Christopher is more than ready to accept Parker just as he is.
True for You is book four in the Studio C series. It’s a 27k story featuring true mates, misunderstandings, surrogacy, ‘the special plate’, and a tooth-rotting fluffy happy ending.
REVIEW:
We finally get to know Christopher, the phone sex operator who we met in Choosing Me, who has agreed to be Derek and Harrison’s surrogate.
Christopher is helping out his two friends from the studio by being their surrogate for the Alpha and Beta. Pregnancy has him hungry, especially for any thing garlic, constantly. While out grocery shopping he scents his true mate, the overpowering smell of old books and libraries which are his favorite things. But, when he goes toward the man he literally drops the box of cereal and runs! Poor Parker has the worst luck with omegas. His ex really did a number on him for being too clingy and touchy. Then, after having coffee with his bosses and learns that true mates aren’t a myth but real, he scents his mate, all warm maple syrup, and he’s so excited to meet him until he turns around and exposes his baby bump! And his mate is one of his co-workers Ben! How is this suppose to work? And isn’t Ben and Ryder a thing? And does he always have to be so unlucky in love?
This is the continuation of the end of the last book. Well really all the books tie together so reading them in order would be best. Each book features a different couple but you get to see and they interact with all “the family” of co-workers at Studio C. This time we are going to see the baby that Derek and Harrison have been desiring to have. Their co-worker, Christopher, has graciously agreed to be their surrogate. He’s the phone sex operator for Studio C so it won’t be affecting his work. He’s Asexual so it won’t be affecting his sex life either. That is until he’s half way through his pregnancy and then his true mate spots him, with a baby bump and in the store with his alpha roommate who conveniently catches the swooning omega when his mate runs off scared. The alpha who works at Studio C with the newbie Parker. Parker can’t believe that this is happening to him. When the misunderstanding is cleared up at work he rushes to be by Christopher, who is greatly suffering from his rejection.
This all happened super fast. I get that they identify as true mates but bathing a person you just met is a bit over the top intimate on the first day meeting for me. I guess true mates typically consummate their relationship immediately ending with knotting your mate and the mating bite mark. With Christopher being pregnant with another Alpha’s child it seemed best to wait. They did slow down and moved a bit slower. Plus Parker running into his ex helped clear his anxiety of over clinginess. These two men love their cuddles. I will say I would think the amount of garlic Christopher invests/craves would have effected his scent.
This book has a fairly low angst factor. I kept being prepared for there to be a problem with Parker continuing to be an alpha porn star and having sex with their fellow workmates/friends. That was never addressed. It could be that it is so clinical that they never felt it was a problem. Or, my best guess, is that it worked best with Christopher’s asexuality. Christopher’s job was never hands-on so that wouldn’t/shouldn’t be a problem. I was actually kinda disappointed that the subject was never addressed for them and felt it was left incomplete for me.
I am still eagerly awaiting Ben and Ryder’s story. I know that it will be a doozy for sure! And I wouldn’t mind a story of how Bryce and Jeremy Cole, the Studio C owners/true mates, got together. I know we got a glimpse in this book but I think it would be a good read.
