Doctor or Daddy? There’s no way Dr. Greer can be both.
He’s my patient.
He’s off-limits.
He’s a twenty-one-year-old young man who’s battled with Hodgkin lymphoma throughout adolescence. Given two years of complete remission, Austin Villiers should be out there living his best life. Instead, he walks the wings of the cancer treatment center, spreading hope and smiles.
My patients’ lives aren’t the only ones he touches. His presence reminds me why I chose this path years ago. But, I have feelings for this boy that goes against everything I believe in. He doesn’t make it easy when he reveals his virgin heart belongs to me.
It’s been a long time since I’ve wanted to be called Daddy. Austin brings back all those protective tendencies. But, how can I break the simplest rule of being a medical practitioner by dating a patient?
The Simple Rules To Not Fall For My Doc is a low angst, light daddy kink, forbidden romance between an oncologist and a patient in complete remission. The books in this series can be read out of order.
REVIEW:
Austin Villiers can’t believe that, not only was he dumped, but that Bryce had been with him only to use him to get recognition, popularity points and praise for sticking with him throughout his cancer and treatments. What a tool! Now he realizes it’s for the best that they never consummated their seven-year relationship. Something never felt totally right and now he knew why. Plus his cheating made much more sense. When his long time oncologist, Dr. Malcolm Greer, questions Austin he breaks down and cries out the whole story. When Austin realizes it’s Dr. Greer that really holds his eye he pursues him endlessly. But what will happen to Malcolm’s career if he finally gives in to his own secret desires for his patient?
I get that there are rules in place to protect vulnerable patients and doctors alike. I do. But when two people are meant for each other and follow the proper protocol, like turning Austin’s care over to a fellow colleague, and having Austin be truthful about their budding relationship to his Mom, then I believe they haven’t broken any forbidden rules. You can’t control who you fall in love with or where you meet them. They did follow the proper channels but were still ostracized by Malcolm’s peers/colleagues. Thankfully his job wasn’t in jeopardy at the Cancer Center but they each took a major hit emotionally.
I did love that Austin was basically “adopted” into his sponsor family. I would have thought that they would have got to meet the man he fell on love with. I knew they wouldn’t judge. They just wanted what was best for the young man who had been through so much in such a short lifetime.
My heart went out for both men. They knew they couldn’t fight their attraction any longer but had to fight so much oppression when they finally gave in. But each man needed the other so badly. I will say, this book is much lighter on the “Daddy Kink” than I was expecting.
This is the first in this new series. It sounds like the books don’t interconnect but follow a theme instead. Can’t wait for the next one! Another hit for author Gianni Holmes.
