BLURB:
It only takes one rock star to crash the perfect honeymoon, but it might take two to save it.
Ian and Trent’s honeymoon is supposed to be perfect, but before they even make it to Miami, Mac—Ian’s manager and best friend—is already interfering. As soon as the plane lands, Ian starts to drift away from Trent, falling back into his closeted habits and disappearing for days to record a new album, leaving Trent alone in an unfamiliar country.
Trent is at his breaking point when Ian tries to disappear again after three days away. He can’t be the househusband Ian obviously needs. Trent is ready to collect his bags and head back to the airport when he overhears Mac’s secret, which threatens to turn his life upside down.
REVIEW:
Freshly married Trent and Ian are flying to their honeymoon destination, Ian’s impressive house in Miami.
Ian is the drummer of the band, we meet Brian, the bassist, Mac the singer and manager, Max and Devon twins both guitarists. There isn’t much story in this book about the band or the music, it is more about Trent and Ian.
Ian and Mac are best friends, now they’re cooling off because of a fight. It seems Mac has issues with Trent and is loathing Trent and won’t even look at him. Trent doesn’t understand why.
After they have been a night out to a bar and back to Ian’s home, there is a confusing action, and Trent doesn’t see Ian in the next three days. Ian was avoiding Trent.
When Trent was on the very edge and wanted to go fly back home, he overhears Mac and Ian, and oh boy that was something else.
I must say, I had a lot of issues reading this story. There were strange awkward circumstances and moments, I didn’t understand the purpose of them. Some arguments didn’t make sense, the conversations and reactions gave me whiplash, they went cold and hot in a nanosecond, I almost couldn’t handle it. They had a lot of issues but didn’t talk about them.
Ian and Trent were a married couple but didn’t feel like a team, as if they weren’t in a commitment, they didn’t talk really and a lot of times they weren’t even nice to each other.
The last 20 percent was more intense. I can’t tell because the blurb doesn’t give a hint about it.
The author has a pleasant way of writing and combining sentences, but I missed a lot of development, on all fronts but certainly character development and depth, they felt quite shallow.
There is a hfn but it’s loose.
Two and a half stars for this story, the last half added for the writing.
