Capture is a soldier’s worst fear, but all his training couldn’t prepare Sergeant Josh Rayne for what it meant to be caught by the alien invaders, who have claimed the desert in Western Australia.
Josh believes he is the only man left alive from the teams sent out to spy on the aliens, but in the alien prison, he is reunited with his lover and fellow soldier Xavier Fisher. There is no time to celebrate though as Xavier is gravely injured and in need of medical care.
With the exfil date fast approaching, they have to escape before the ship leaves without them.
Book one in the Captured Earth trilogy. For readers who like action, explosions, and don’t mind a little gore with their gay romance.
REVIEW:
I had to catch myself from giggling every time I read the name for the aliens in here. You’ll get it when you see it. But I kept picturing another little guy and I would just laugh and then remember, these guys were nothing like that.
This was actually quite a story. Not at all what I expected. It’s definitely one for the sci-fi fans that love some action. I really enjoyed it.
I felt Josh mainly in this book. If you’ve known anyone in the military that has been in any kind of active war, it takes something from them. Having friends, lovers, heck, even people you didn’t like die on the field, there’s survivor’s guilt and all kinds of things. And Josh is doing everything he can to save everyone he can. But he’s only one person. And even with a team of trained military with him, things can go FUBAR in a flash. And they do. And now Josh is alone again. Trying to fight for his life from idiots who are bullies, and trying to find his way out. But my favorite part was his saving grace in Xavier. Knowing the one man that means more to him than life itself is still alive, I think that made the book for me.
They knew they may not make it but that they were together again made all the difference in the world. It gave them something to fight for again. And that’s a great feeling.
The ending kind of killed me. It’s definitely a cliffhanger but thankfully book 2 is right here so I can jump right in. And I’m going to for sure. I am very anxious to see how they are going to survive these aliens and how the series turns out. It’s really interesting and I think you guys need to give it a shot.
