BLURB:
A month in a remote cabin with the last man I ever expected to see again? I can’t decide if I should punch him or drill him. it might end up being both.
After more than a decade, the last person I expected to see walk into the Four Bears Construction offices as a new hire was Ridge.
He was my first crush, and my first heartbreak when he started dating my sister. When he left her at the altar without so much as a note, I wrote him off for good.
No amount of excuses and explanations can erase what he did. At least that’s what I keep telling myself. But when we end up being sent to a remote campground alone to spend a month rebuilding the cabins, it’s too easy to remember why I fell for him in the first place.
I know the guys are all taking bets on how long it takes us to start playing with each other’s tools.
It’s going to be a long month.
REVIEW:
As we know Four Bears Construction is about best friends (Cole, Ollie, Stone and Everett) who decided to put up their own construction business. It has become very successful. I really thought the series ended with all four best friends finding their happily-ever-after, but I was very pleasantly surprised that there are more books coming. We are now in book 7, Drilled, which is the long-awaited story of Apollo and Ridge.
Ridge is the newest addition to the beloved crew of Four Bears Construction. Who knew that Apollo might have had some explosive (and really painful) history with Ridge? Well, no one apparently because everybody was surprised of Apollo’s reaction when he met (again) Ridge for the first time as a co-worker.
This particular installment in the series is a close-proximity, best friends to enemies to “maybe” friends again to lovers trope. (What a mouthful hah!) I never knew I would love bears so much until I started my journey into this genre. I really love them! I guess that particular quality of being big, growly and sometimes grumpy, but at the same time being so gentle, loving and sensitive does it for me.
A life-changing event happened between these two fifteen years ago and Apollo doesn’t want to hear Ridge’s explanation. Ridge knew that he made a colossal mistake and that he deserves not to be forgiven, but he wishes that Apollo would just give him the chance to explain his side. He does not expect to be forgiven at all.
When they got assigned on a job together on a remote camp ground, so many miles away from civilization, Apollo thought of not accepting it but the job offers overtime and the chance for him to continuously improve his skills. He sucked it up and accepted the job (he didn’t really have a choice in the beginning, what with all the Four Bears bearing down on him – see what I just did?).
Ridge just wants a chance to get his best friend back in his life again, and if he could just explain his side about what happened fifteen years ago, there is a sliver of a chance that he might have his friend back.
Ms. Neuhold has this amazing talent of fully engaging you in her stories, you will definitely fall in love with Apollo and Ridge, even if Apollo grunts and growls his way to the end. She creates totally beautiful characters, perfect in their imperfections and her tales about their love stories will make you swoon and fall in love over and over again. Congratulations Ms. K.M. Neuhold for yet another beautiful and amazing tale of bears falling in love!
