Imposing Saint by Jess Bryant
All Saints Security Series, Book 3
Aaron Laughlin is young, rich, and a star among the Nashville political elite. That’s why nobody is more surprised than him when he ends up abandoned at the altar. But here he is, dumped on the most important day of his life, embarrassed in front of his entire city, and left with a bruised ego in place of a broken heart.
Needing time away to regroup after the fiasco that could very well derail his career, he decides to head to the mountains and enjoy his honeymoon on his own. Only, he isn’t alone. His imposing new bodyguard refuses to let Aaron out of his sight, or his reach, and the way his dark eyes follow Aaron’s every move gets under his skin in a way he can’t shake, and isn’t sure he wants to.
Isaac Chinn is practical, professional and takes pride in being good at his job. He’s never even considered breaching the client/bodyguard boundary, which is why being stuck on the side of a mountain with the gorgeous jilted groom that isn’t quite as straight as he’d like people to think, is such an imposition. The mayor might annoy and intrigue him in equal measure but Isaac knows better than to cross the line.
Only, the heat that flares between them refuses to be ignored. They’re like gasoline and a match, destined to consume each other if they get too close. But when faced with the cold of loneliness, is it worth the risk to feel the heat of passion, even if it might destroy them both?

When he had decided to get out of Nashville while he regrouped and tried to figure out his next move, he’d planned to do so alone. He’d learned a long time ago that alone was the only time it was safe to fully be himself. He never let his guard down around others. He was a politician with a very distinct image that he presented to the public. Ashtyn’s actions today had changed that image irreversibly and now he needed some time alone to contemplate what came next. He couldn’t do that with this handsome six foot bodyguard lurking over his shoulder.
Aaron shook his head, trying to wipe that thought away before it took hold.
Handsome? No. That definitely wasn’t what he should be thinking in regards to the imposing bodyguard that he would be forced to share his private sanctuary with for who knew how long.
Not even if it was true.
Especially if it was true.
And it was true, no matter how much Aaron might not want to admit it. it. As much as he didn’t want to notice that kind of thing, his new bodyguard was gorgeous in a way that defied Aaron’s indifference to most men.
“Why are you staring at me?”
Aaron nearly leaped out of his seat at the sound of that deep voice cutting through the otherwise quiet interior of the empty room. Dark lashes fluttered and then Isaac’s head turned, one eyelid opening enough for him to squint. Aaron had no idea how he did it but even with one eye still shut he managed to look impossibly calm and cool.
“I wasn’t staring.”
A dark eyebrow quirked before he opened his eyes fully and all but leveled Aaron with a look that said they both knew he was lying. Aaron felt his face heat despite his best efforts. He looked away, annoyed at having been caught and called out on his behavior.
“Fine. I was staring,” he admitted. “But only because I was trying to bore a hole into your head and figure out how to get you to stay here in Nashville and let me go to Colorado alone.”
Isaac snorted, “I already told you. That isn’t going to happen.”
“Because the Senator told you to stay with me.”
“Yes.”
“And the Senator is the client.”
“Yes.”
“Even though it was supposed to be my wedding day.”
“Yes.” Isaac tilted his head slightly, “Are we playing a game where we just say things we already know are true? Like, the sky is blue and the grass is green and…”
“You’re a pain in the ass.” Aaron cut him off because smiling at him would ruin the argument he wanted to have.
