Life would be simpler if X marked the spot.
When Landry Carran buys an antique mirror from a pop-up flea market, he doesn’t expect it to set him on a treasure hunt originating in the Second World War. He can’t resist tracking down the clues even knowing that every step brings him closer to danger.
Landry’s partner and Dom, Detective Gage Roskam, has his own problems handling a money laundering case that twists and turns as much as Landry’s treasure trail.
As a decades-old mystery collides with modern-day crime, Landry and Roskam must juggle work, friendships and their relationship to solve both puzzles. It’ll be a miracle if nothing gets broken along the way.
Reader advisory: This book contains scenes of physical assault, gunshots and expressions of homophobia. There are references to non-nurturing parenting, addiction and attempted abduction.
REVIEW:
Ohhhh, this series is SOOOO good. If you love a good mystery, this is the perfect series for you. It also has a healthy dose of BDSM, a bratty sub, a Dommy Dom, and trouble that seems to follow them wherever they go.
Landry and Mr. Lao, the owner of Treasure Trove, make this book so enjoyable. I loved them from the beginning because they share a bond. Even though Mr. Lao may act all tough, he’s got a fondness for Landry and it’s so fun watching them. But now, after an incident involving a hurt Petey, Landry’s best friend, Mr. Lao has another he’s grown fond of and the laughs just keep on coming. Of course, the laughs come even more when Landry and Petey are bratty and their Doms put their two cents in lol. Usually that’s reserved for Landry. And add Gage’s partner Sancha and…shew boy.
But this book isn’t all laughs. And I love this part of the story. I love WWII history and the fact that it was incorporated in this story made it so much more for me. That and the mystery to solve, while trying to avoid the bad guys on their trail and a punk Brit who needs throat punched…often. A mirror, a map, and clues lead Landry and the gang on a dangerous hunt to find out what’s going on. But while doing that, Gage and Sancha are also trying to solve a case of what they think is one thing and it turns out to be something else. And all to save Petey from being hurt again.
It’s full of fun. Or was for me. I highly recommend it. The characters in this series and book are a laugh. And I strongly recommend reading in order or you will be lost. But not only are they fun, they have created bonds that are deep and show how they have each other’s backs. They are smart, interesting, and I love the trouble they get into because there’s always something at the end that is interesting to learn. It’s just a great book and series.
