When the scandal of a double homicide threatens to destroy his career, this billionaire hockey player hires an ambitious sports agent to improve his public image. It’s time to let the puckery begin.
Timothée Croneau is that jock—the bad boy superstar with the naughty reputation. He’s handsome, arrogant, and a billionaire. He’s also the number one person-of-interest in a double homicide and recently traded to a losing team who is showing him no love. And wouldn’t it be just his luck that his career splashed in the toilet six months after his long-time agent kicked the bucket? Now, he’s stuck with Ryker Kitsch.
An agent is supposed to fix his life, though, not break his heart.
Speaking of breaks, ex-athlete Ryker Kitsch wants his in the sports agency realm. He sees his chance to make a name for himself by helping rebrand his agency’s newly acquired hockey star, Timothée Croneau. The guy needs every lick of positive PR he can get. So, why is the devilishly gorgeous forward fighting him at every step and leaving Ryker to wonder if he’s been hired for a babysitting gig?
The mess Timothée is stirring was never in any contract Ryker was hired to handle. One thing’s for sure. Whether it’s a forecheck or backcheck, collision is inevitable.
REVIEW:
When evidence speaks against the notorious hockey player Timothée Croneau, he needs all the help he can to upscale his image. His parents are murdered and Timothée is the first person the police are interested in.
So when sports agent Ryker Kitsch offers to help, Timothée accepts, as if he had a choice.
Timothée needs positive PR, Ryker doubts he can get this done for the man because dang, he got a bad attitude.
“The handsome faces were always the most trouble.”
Looking into Timothée’s past will give you shivers, he doesn’t trust easily, Ryker has to work hard to earn it.
Timothée’s life is complex just as his personality. He made his mind up about life, every argument with Ryker he bounced back, hard. It’s difficult to get his nose in the right direction, or maybe more in Ryker’s direction.
I loved their conversations, they go in every direction, light, with depth, teasing, fun, serious, flirtatious, angry, there is never a dull moment. The attraction was there but slightly.
There is romance but it’s not a romantic story. The characters are pragmatic and not really romantic at heart. Deep down there was some and I would have loved to see more development of it. All the facts that got revealed (mostly at the last part of the story) were from one person’s view fun, and the other horror. Both are slightly developed and not the main course, even though both are important.
The hfn was far from satisfying, there were too many loose ends, I would have appreciated something more solid and a longer version of the ending.
The writing style was fun, the interactions made sense and were entertaining, the characters had body and complexity, only the plot was a bit fluttering, it wasn’t clear what the main course was about. Whatever it was, it was too slightly developed to made it clear.
Altogether an entertaining story I mostly enjoyed, only it lacked romance and had a disappointing ending.
