BLURB:
Nathan, a college student with a thing for funky hats and a definite not-thing for the great outdoors, has been a wingman extraordinaire for his lifelong best friend Lorcan for as long as either can remember. With his innate ability to talk endlessly about how great Lorcan is to anyone who’ll listen, Nathan has always been the best man for the job—even if he’s secretly waiting for the day when Lorcan will realize that Nathan is the only guy for him.
But then, Lorcan sets his sights on Miles, the suave, leather-jacket-wearing musician with a love of mountaineering and a family of six overprotective sisters, and Nathan must once again put his wingman skills to work.
Trouble is, Nathan is getting tired of the old routine, and Miles is the only human being on the planet immune to Lorcan’s charm. Not to mention that Miles’s interest is immediately piqued by the outspoken and completely oblivious wingman.
REVIEW:
What do you do when you’ve secretly been crushing on your straight best friend, sublimating your desires and even talking him up to the girls he’s been interested in. Now what if he drops the bombshell on you that he wants you to help him win the heart of a BOY he’s taken a fancy to, and it’s NOT you?
Nathan and Lorcan have been best friends for as long as they can remember. And if that means Nathan needs to keep his crush on his buddy bottled up, he can live with that. Over the years he’s even resigned himself to helping get Lorcan laid. But when Lorcan asks him to help him win the affections of a GUY, Nathan decides he needs to re-evaluate how their friendship is going.
And when the guy that Lorcan is crushing on starts letting Nathan know that it’s him that he’s attracted to, things take a turn toward the confusing.
This is a sweet M/M romance, a tale of friendship and only a little bit of a love triangle. All three guys are nice guys at heart and though Lorcan can be a bit clueless, that’s at least partly due to the enabling behavior that Nathan has sort of fostered. Nathan is also a bit clueless when it comes to how people see him as well, and there are no real villains here. Even Miles’s threatening sisters end up being lovable. This has the low angst feel of a Hallmark movie. The sexual content is pretty muted with an emphasis on feelings; there’s more baking than bonking to be had here. Heck they even make it a point that no fictional ground squirrels were harmed in the unfolding of this romance.
This is a feel good tale from start to finish. While there are no grand epiphanies to be had here, there are also no harrowing ordeals to get through. This is a quick and easy, joyous ride and certainly an entertaining read. I look forward to reading more from this author. She’s proven here that she can spin a good tale.
