Foxxxy Rule #1: Never fall for a client.
Christian Webber is femme, fabulous, and an absolute freaking mess. Although he loves his chaotic life, his cherished friends, and his job dancing and escorting at the exclusive Foxxxy Gentlemen’s Club, he’s also twenty-nine, single, and facing down the very real possibility of turning into a lonely, old cat lady. But an encounter with a client’s jaded son may change everything.
Gordon van Dierman has his life figured out. He owns a business, a house, and a dog with his partner of seven years, but when he learns of his partner’s infidelity, the grumpy Dutchman abandons everything he’s built and returns to his childhood home in America to lick his wounds in peace. But a run-in with a feisty, genderfluid escort may be just what the doctor ordered.
When Chrissy and Gordon’s lives collide, it’s hate at first sight to be sure, but the fire between them may be more than simple loathing. You know what they say: love and hate are horns on the same goat—or however that expression goes.
REVIEW:
New to me author.
Christian is many things:
Fabulous dancer/choreographer✔️
Highly Successful and desired✔️
Comfortable in his own skin and owns it✔️
Drop dead gorgeous✔️
Scared to death of love and commitment✔️✔️✔️
When Christian goes on his weekly escort visit to the blind Dutchman Jan he is startled by the macho/brash man that answers the bright green door. Gordon is confused why the beautiful femme man is here to visit his father resulting in his rude and inappropriate behavior. When Christian comes for dinner (I loved his version of bringing salad!) the room becomes combustible. But there are rules and fooling around with one of his client’s sons is definitely crossing that line! But can this chemistry be stopped?
This story droned on and on and on for me in the early part of the story. I love a slow burn story but this went on far too long for me. Yes I get it…Gordon was seriously burned by his ex. And Christian is extremely gun-shy of love and commitment after growing up with his on and off parent’s marriage. But there comes a point where you either man up and accept what is going on or cut you losses and end it. There were points where I questioned whether I could finish but am glad I persevered. When Christian and Gordon finally started communicating was when it picked up for me. I appreciated and respected Christian dedication to his fellow dancers and Foxxxy’s. And I loved Jan. He was an honorable person who did the “right thing” at his own expense for so many years. I was thankful that Gordon and Jan also started talking. Lack of good communication seems to have been a family thing.
Although the book was slow in the start it redeemed itself, for me at least, when communication began and needs were finally stated.
