REVIEW:
Swoon-worthy!!! This book really did it for me.
Kelso Ray is lead singer for The Tex-Sons, a successful country music group. He decides to drop-in to see his Mama for her birthday before he heads down to see his older brother on San Padre Island. The band is heading out on their European tour soon and he hasn’t been back to his childhood home since he was discovered and headed out right after his high school graduation. Unfortunately nothing has changed since he left and it’s a super short disappointing visit. Now he’s heading to see his brother Leo and doesn’t hold much hope of that visit goin’ much better. Color him shocked when he arrives to discover that his big brother is a successful owner of a fun ocean-side bar called “On The Rocks” and his childhood crush Tanner works there too! When Kelso learns his life-long crush is gay too all bets are off!
Although each of their stories are heart-wrenching (Kelso with his family and Tanner’s just flat out gutted me) both these guys are adorably cute and sweet. The fact that they had both secretly crushed on each other growing up but was unable to voice and had to keep it a secret was so sad. But rural Texas has never been know as open and welcoming to those that are considered weird or different. And being gay growing up there definitely wasn’t acceptable.
While I hated Kelso’s twin and despised how his parents treated him I loved how Leo felt comfortable enough to finally not only reach out to his younger brother but wanted a relationship with him. And I loved that he finally opened up to him and talked. That was a super sweet and special moment. I can’t wait for his book.
And I love, Love, LOVED that Kelso set his mind getting (and keeping) Tanner and no one was going to stop him.
One of my only things I wish would happen in Sam’s books is that when the two MC’s finally look like they’re going to get their hard earned HEA and then we move on too quickly. I hope, like in her Lonely Heroes series (which a few characters from GEA-US do make cameo appearances 😉) that we get to hear how Kelso and Tanner’s relationship progress.
I truly loved this story and can’t wait for Leo’s story next up in the series.
