Studies astrophysics? Check. Loves Star Wars? Check. Still a virgin at twenty-one with zero experience in real life? Double-check.
I didn’t want any fanfare around my twenty-first birthday. But when a series of unfortunate accidents confirming Ramsey’s rules of randomness takes place right in front of my eyes, I find myself dancing with the hottest, most popular jock on campus.
Liam makes me feel special. He makes this night one to remember. He becomes the very first boy I ever kissed. Except it’s all a charade. He’s just making his crazy ex-girlfriend crazier and I’m happy to play along. Call it a kissing practice. But when the door is closed and his ex isn’t around to see us, are we still faking it? Or are we the crazy ones?
Liam
Am I going through one helluva breakup? Yes I am. Am I coping with it by dancing with the first guy who accidentally pissed my ex off? You bet I am.
Hayley and I were supposed to spend our lives together. Well, that was the plan until she changed the plan. She’s now hooking up with some random caveman and I’ll be damned if I’m just going to stand here and watch. Oops, the nerd just kissed me; and you can bet your life I kissed him back. Now she knows what it feels like.
And I discover it feels way better than I expected.
The Two Stars Collision is the third book in the College Boys of New Haven series, but it fully works as a standalone. If this is your first encounter with the series, feel free to start here! You will find a nerd/jock pair, opposites attract, gay for you, and a happily ever after.
REVIEW:
Another visit to the college boys in New Haven.
Miles is a 21 year old nerd who is also a complete virgin. His roommate Shelia is determined to get him out for his birthday and plies him with gin first before announcing that they are going out to the bar to celebrate. Once there he is accosted by a nasty , mean girl who spills her sticky drink on herself and him. When a gorgeous guy comes to apologize it turns interesting when they wind up dancing and kissing to piss off Liam’s ex. But does it still count as trying to piss her off if they go back to the jock’s room to continue what they started?
I did enjoy both Miles and Liam navigate through many firsts. It was definitely all new to Miles, and even though he wasn’t a virgin, Liam was brand-new to a gay relationship. It did kinda bug me that they kept the “fake” relationship scenario up way past what it had become. They weren’t just doing it to make Hayley jealous anymore and feelings were definitely becoming involved.
This book has a lot about stars and Star Wars that flew right over my head. I haven’t seen a Star Wars flick since the early 80’s so I had no clue about some of the references. Although I enjoy looking at the stars on a clear night, I had limited knowledge about all the history of stars and everything Miles was talking about. And the only thing I recognized about DnD was I figured out what it stood for (Dungeons and Dragons). I guess that nerd would never been used to describe me.
I did enjoy watching Liam and Miles grow closer and talk about the things that interest them each besides each other. I couldn’t figure out why Hayley kept “popping up” into Liam’s life when it was obvious that ship had sailed. She was such a nasty piece of work that I couldn’t see them together in the first place. I get that they grew up together and their families developed this whole idea of them together forever since they were little but rarely does that play out.
I was pretty surprised that Miles never figured out that Liam came from money. I mean the birthday gift alone cost close to $1,000 and even I knew that. Legos aren’t cheap and the Millennium Falcon is über expensive. Then Liam rents cars when ever they need one. Just a lot of clues to me that a guy as bright as Miles never figured out. But I guess Hayley did.
This was a cute guy meets guy, guy figures out he likes the boy, guy goes for it even though he always thought he was straight and following the road his parents planned book. I really enjoyed watch these two guys get to know each other and discover their needs both physically and mentally.
