This book has previously been released in 2017. It has been re-edited and extended, but the story hasn’t changed.
When Denver’s long-term partner breaks up with him, he flees his life, his career, and his bright future as one of the country’s leading trauma surgeons. Ditching everything but his dog, Denver returns to the quiet town of Cooper’s Ridge and his parents’ ranch.
Leaving twelve years earlier, Denver knew he would never be accepted as a gay man in an unaccepting town. So, when he meets Kes—an old school friend—in the bar he owns, he is shocked to find him in an openly gay relationship. Something he never thought would happen here.
What surprises him even more is the instant, mutual attraction the three men have. Accepting a job in Kes’ bar, they dance around each other, wanting them but not believing he would ever fit in with a couple so obviously in love. But, they want him. And they are not prepared to let him go.
Denver takes a risk and accepts their offer of a night out, finding a side of himself he never knew existed. Not trusting himself to be enough for the two men, the desire blooming in him is unprecedented and he can’t deny it: he wants them as much.
He finds his life falling into place, all because of two men. Is it possible he found his forever in a place he never expected it?
REVIEW:
This story had been previously released in 2017 when I had reviewed it but has now been re-written, extended, re-edited, and is now being re-releasing.
Denver thought he had it all. He had his long-time fiancé Alec, their home that he bought, a fabulous and extremely successful career as a well respected chief trauma surgeon and his dog Missy. What more could he want or need? But that all came crashing down when he returned home from a conference where he had been the keynote speaker to find Alec had moved all his belongings out of their home and was getting married to a pediatrician at their hospital. When Denver discover’s that all their friends and fellow staff at his hospital knew all about Alec’s cheating he resigned, sells his home and sports car, buys a new pickup and heads home with Missy for the first time in 12+ years to his parents ranch. When his brother Cal takes him to the local gay-friendly bar (yep that was something new in his hometown) he sees one of the first boys he ever kissed, Kes. And it looks like Kes is in a relationship with Cal’s school buddy East, who is doing the construction at his parent’s ranch. When both Kes and East set their sights on Denver he never stands a chance to fight off their attraction…but does he even want to fight it?
This book may have some of the same basic storyline but the book seems to have been completely revamped with a bunch of new storyline. I like that it is more focused on the triad – Denver, Kes and East for the most part. We still saw some of the side characters but this seemed more directed on them and their relationship. And these three men are hot and their “fun times” are scorching.
The thing that was hardest was watching Denver and his lack of both trust and confidence. He has the complete love and support of both East and Kes even though it was so hard to accept. But it was always there for him.
I did love that East basically forced Denver to let loose his musical side. That piece of crap ex of his did such a number on Denver. He stifled him and Denver would never have been truly happy like he was with his men.
The part that seemed somewhat unresolved was Chase Fielding. I never understood where he came from or why he had his agenda against Denver but I trusted that Dr. Woodruff would handle it.
As many know, I am a huge fan of ménage and JJ Harper is master of ménage stories. She makes sure we know each man’s thoughts and feelings and blends them together for the perfect package. I have no idea if she is re-writing
I don’t know if she is re-doing Carter’s story or not but it’s a great story too. I highly recommend this revamped story that is even better than the original.
