Part of the Inches of Trust universe
February seems like the perfect time for architect Brian Townsend to give notice at the big firm he’s been working for and get his own business off the ground. But February of 2020 is dropping hints that the future is neither bright nor rosy in New York City, or the rest the world.
As the spring develops into a disaster of unimaginable proportions, Brian’s husband Tristan Blake is on the front lines. As an NYPD detective, his job suddenly involves risks it never had before. Can he keep himself safe, and Brian too? What happens when the universe drops a very small gift into their lives in the middle of all the chaos?
REVIEW:
Note: This is an ongoing series and as such, contains spoilers for previous installments. I would recommend reading these stories in order.
Architect Brian Townsend and his husband Tristan Blake have settled nicely into their married life. Brian is working on renovating the brownstone they live in – and that’s kept him plenty busy 🙂 Tristan’s job as a detective keep him hopping as well. As usual, Tristan’s unsupportive and meddling family do nothing but cause Tristan grief. Their ridiculous demands and refusal to recognize his marriage and his husband and him being gay is just so much more stress Tristan really doesn’t need.
Brian is getting ready to go out on his own and he’s given his notice. His bestie at work (who indirectly is responsible for him meeting Tristan) will miss him, but she’s got her own project going on 😉 Then COVID happens. So Brian can’t do much work and Tristan’s work is horrific and overwhelming. And then there is the real worry about Tristan potentially being exposed to the virus everyday at his job.
Things are frustrating, but both men are doing their best. Then while out on a call, Tristan stumbles over an unexpected package. He’s really surprised, but it might have been kismet and the answer to something that he and Brian have been working on 🙂
I LOVED this episode. Brian and Tristan are such good guys. I really want them to get what their hearts desire. Their road hasn’t been easy, but maybe this little gift will move them forward. There are some straining moments – especially for Tristan with regard to his family. But they’ve never had his back anyway. That doesn’t mean that there might not b fallout in the future from the events of this story. I just know that Brian will do his best. For those who have suffered losses due to COVID or are still struggling, be warned that the very real reality of the early days of COVID in New York City are in fact elements of this story, so use your own judgement if that will be triggering for you.
I am a total fan of this series and I love watching their story unfold. I enjoy Brian and Tristan’s very different personalities and I like seeing how they change over time. I can’t wait to see what happens next. For fans of this series, this is a bit of a dark episode with some light at the end, but I recommend it.
