REVIEW:
This is the fifth book in the series of Exit Strategy. This all started with Justin Mallory and Gabriel “G-Love” Prescott, two assassins who were forced to work together on a contract during the first book. They went on to fulfill the contract and along the way fell in love with each other. The second and the third book followed their adventures and the subsequent downfall of the dreaded Krestyanov family from which Gabriel came from. They have been running all over Europe in order to capture, evade and eventually kill those they needed to kill in order to finally let go of Gabriel’s horrific past. In the process, Gabriel started repairing his relationship with his sister and started one with his nephew, Alexei. Towards the end of book 3, Justin and G-Love found their ultimate happiness amongst family and friends, new and old.
So we met Alexei in book 3 when he and his mom reunited with Gabriel, his uncle, the Assassin. After his mother died of cancer, he went to live with his two uncles in Colorado. No matter how badly he wanted to stay with them, he knew that he needed to branch out on his own and become his own person. He decided to follow in his uncles’ business and became an assassin himself. It has been two years since he started this journey, which he is quite good at. He is currently fulfilling a contract of eliminating another “really bad” person. He is eliminating an arms dealer. He never knew that this contract would change his life forever.
“Soren/Nick” is a cat burglar. And he is a world-class one. He was on the job when he saw an Angel. Before he left the venue with his prize, he took one last look at the beautiful man near the arms dealer who was the host of the party. He never knew that his contract would eventually lead him to Alexei (or vice versa), the most beautiful human he has ever seen in his life.
Before they knew it, both Alexei and Soren are running from assassins and all the alphabet agencies all over Paris, then Amsterdam. They are all after the hard drive that Soren took from the arms dealer. Add to that the hefty price on his head whose contract was given to Alexei first before it became worldwide. In the end, they had no choice but to call in the cavalry in the form of Alexei’s frightening Assassin Uncles and Soren’s former CIA teammates.
Another adventure full of action amidst the scenic spots of Paris and Amsterdam. I love it! Congratulations Ms. Jocelynn Drake on a well-loved series and I can’t wait for what comes next!
