REVIEW:
Chase lives in Queens, New York, working for the music publication Pulse Magazine.
He’s thirty-five years old, climbing up on the ladder, he’s ambitious, and lives a luxurious life among celebrities. You can find him walking from one event to the next.
At one of the events, he meets Miguel, a twenty-four years old upcoming R&B musician. Miguel is amicable with Chase and seeks more rapprochement. They meet again, for business and private reasons.
Chase develops feelings for Miguel, Miguel is vague about his.
So far so good. We can follow them with their undefinable relationship.
The scenery was exquisite, with influential people around at parties and events, good for the business. And that’s what this story is mostly about, business and parties.
That side of the story was entertaining and interesting.
Everything is widely described, the furniture, the brands of clothes, everything that had a brand, the title of the CD, the rooms, all the decor, it was easy to visualize. Everything was described except, for me the most important thing, the characters, their conversations, and their interactions, this remained superficial.
The content was quite entertaining, the business, the events, the diners, the fleeting quick contacts, that part of this novel was nicely done and attractive for a reader.
When I get to the structure and timelines of this narrative, the interactions, and the layering of the characters, I must conclude it was not enough, the author has skills but needs improvement.
Overall, it was an entertaining story, with an open-end, I understand there will be a continuation, it was energetic and vibrant, but definitely needs some refining.
