BLURB:
Logan is out of options.
His mother’s new husband is awful, he can’t find a paying job, and he’s run out of couches to surf on. Desperate, he ends up in the unlikely position of standing on his ex-stepfather’s porch holding all his worldly belongings in two cardboard boxes.
Craig is sure taking Logan in is a terrible idea.
It’s been six years since he’s seen his ex-wife’s kid, and Craig hasn’t forgotten the trouble the boy caused him. But it’s cold out and Logan is clearly at the end of his rope. Craig decides in a fit of charity to help Logan get back on his feet. All he has to do is obey the rules.
Rules are meant to be broken.
Take one desperate Millennial and one bored Gen Xer. Add in an old grudge, guilt, unwelcome feelings, an inconvenient interest in Daddy kink, a need for discipline and regular meals, and punishment for rule-breaking. Shake well. Expect explosive results.
Rule Forty-Seven is a stand-alone short with a May/December romance, sexy-fun times, snark, and a HEA.
REVIEW:
Logan is desperate. That’s the only reason that he shows up at his ex-stepfather’s house with his few worldly possessions and no money. His mother has remarried a homophobe and has taken up with a church that definitely condemns him. He just CANNOT go there, but he’s got student loans to pay off and no paycheck on the horizon and he’s run out of friends with whom he can couch-surf. He hasn’t see Craig for a number of years and he knows he owes Craig and apology.
Craig is quite surprised to see Logan. After the divorce from Logan’s mother, he’s not had any contact with him. Things did not end well. Understatement! But he also recognizes that Logan is desperate and so he agrees to let Logan stay – at least for a bit. But there will be rules. Craig is extremely regimented. That old army discipline has never left him 🙂 Logan realizes it’ll be good for him, but that doesn’t mean he won’t chafe a bit under the new rules. Particularly rule 47.
Logan does well under Craig’s roof. He’d been malnourished and out of shape when he arrived and after a short time, he’s definitely much healthier after regular nutrition and getting back on an exercise regime. But Craig still won’t let him apologize. So he begins acting out. Which is where Rule 47 comes in. The surprise is what Rule 47 leads to.
Well I did not expect this 🙂 It’s a rather short but still complete story very skillfully narrated by Michael Ferraiuolo. There is a slight kink element here as the relationship is between a former stepfather and stepson, but that’s out of the way pretty quickly. I really liked Logan and I felt for him not having any safety net and completely understood why he went to Craig. Craig is still a little bit of an enigma to me, but I knew he had a good heart when he took Logan in despite their past. The bi-awakening was both believable and well written. If you’re in the mood for a short and spicy story with an age gap and a happy ending, this might be the story for you 🙂 Recommended.
