BLURB:
Micah Thaxter has a problem — one scary, inconvenient problem. His shadow wants him dead and isn’t shy about it.
On the plus side, it’s not his time to die and Scary Gary is always there to carry him back to the land of the living. Gary is far too pale, his black cloak a bit out of fashion, and his scythe quite terrifying, but he’s still one of the most beautiful men Micah has ever seen.
Micah may be stuck with a homicidal shadow, but perhaps there’s a way to keep Gary around too. His job escorting souls keeps him busy, but since Micah has already died once today, Gary’s there. So what’s the harm in offering him a cup of tea?
REVIEW:
Death takes a holiday, so why not a lover? In this odd little short story we meet a young man with a shady shadow, and a potential lover with a scythe. The French may refer to la petite mort (the little death). and some people flirt with death on a daily basis, so this little romance is doomed from the start (in a good way). Apparently the reaper that Micah finds less than grim has something of thing for him… OK, he finds him dead sexy.
This short tale doesn’t exactly “fade to black,” but has more of Charon than the carnal about it. Though we do discover, even death will practice safe sex if the cutie in bed with him demands it – at least in this, (the lightest dark comedy ever). At about 20 pages this is a lightning fast read, and given that it’s free on Amazon, why not grab a copy? One more thing to add to your Bucket List.
