Aaron POV The kitchen was soon filled with the scents of toasting bread and melting cheese. It made my mouth water, and I realised how fucking hungry I was. Josh watched me with interested eyes as he sipped his drink. “Nice knives,” he said as I flipped his sandwich. I realised he’d seen the set of Global knives on the counter behind me. “Thanks. They cost a fucking arm and a leg, but I got a discount through a buddy of mine.” I grinned. “Worth it, though.” “Decent knives are.” I nodded and flipped the toastie again, then grabbed a plate off the nearest stack, turning the toastie out onto it before reaching for a knife and neatly cutting it in two. I wordlessly passed it to Josh, then began to make my own. “Thanks,” he said. He picked up one half, inhaling deeply, then took an enormous bite, even though that was a really fucking stupid idea because melted cheese was like fucking lava. “Holy fuck that’s good.” He gave a satisfied groan that went straight to my dick. “Just what I needed.” “All right,” I teased. “I didn’t think I was so fucking bad in bed that I’d be outdone by a bloody toastie.” Josh laughed, the sound so bright and warm it seemed to radiate around the room and fill me up. I wanted to bottle it, sneak it away, and hide it so I could drink deep from it at night when I felt so alone and tired that everything else felt empty. That sound would keep me going for years. And that was the most fucking terrifying realisation I’d had in months. I should have booted him out there and fucking then. But I didn’t. Because some part of me knew I needed this man with his whiskey smiles, dancing eyes, and tricky tongue. The man who came for a fuck and stayed for toasties. The man who made me feel alive just by looking at me.
