BLURB:
Never fall for straight guys–especially when they’re friends with your brother.
Jeremy knows that. Honest! All he wanted was a little work done on his house.
That was it. Nothing too complicated.
And if he can get it done cheap because some guy owes his brother a favor? Even better!
The last thing he expected when Declan knocked on his door was to find the hottest man he’d ever seen. Or for that person to barely be able to speak to him or look him in the eye.
Why would his brother even be friends with a ‘phobic dudebro?
By the time the renovations are finishing up, Jeremy’s prepared to let Declan’s favor to his brother be paid in full and forget about the guy’s shy smile and ripped body.
But his interfering brother has other plans.
Favor is a 30k word novella featuring a busybody older brother, piercings in fun places, a very suggestive sculpture, spackle used as a flirting technique, a not-so-straight contractor, and an audiobook narrator who’s had a bit of dry spell and is sure he’s imagining the way the hot contractor is looking at him.
REVIEW:
One of my favorite tropes is shy big guy falling for bubbly small guy. I also adore meet cutes and misunderstandings. I thought this book was gonna be awesome. It was just okay.
Jeremy and Declan are fun characters and I was really enjoying their little dance they were doing around each other. Both are completely clueless and it makes for a fun read as we watch them screw up from their own stupidity.
Things were going really well until about half way through the book. Then suddenly it was like the author lost interest in their own story and just wrapped it up in a hot, sexy bow. It feels like 3/4 of a story! I was really enjoying it, sneaking reading a couple chapters while I was supposed to be working we all of the sudden it was just over! What the heck?
I know it’s a short read, but if it’s done well, a short read can be a full story. This is just…missing something.
I’m giving it 3 hearts because it was so well written up until it just jumped over the last quarter of the story. I wanted more about them working through some things (I won’t say what because I don’t like spoilers) but it shouldn’t have been so easy!
I love a good sex scene, but sex should enhance a story, not take it over! It’s really hard to connect with characters that you know so little about. I wanted to love them, but I was just kinda…meh.
So if you like it short and sweet and like hot sex, you’ll like this story, but it just left me wanting more and that’s too bad. This read had a lot of potential, but it just didn’t live up to it for me.
