The audiobook of Drama Luau, the 4th Nicky and Noah mystery novel
by Joe Cosentino, performed by Griswold Addams
Author Joe Cosentino interviews audiobook performer Griswold Addams on Drama Luau, the fourth Nicky and Noah comedy mystery audiobook!
Joe: Hi, Griswold. Thanks for interviewing with me today.
Griswold: I’m happy to come out of the closet. I mean take a break from recording in my audio booth.
Joe: In the Nicky and Noah comedy mystery series, college professor Nicky Abbondanza is from Kansas. Where are you from?
Griswold: Originally, I hail from the south. Shocker, I know, because there is no southern drawl.
Joe: Have you ever been to Vermont, the home of Treemeadow College, or Maui where this novel is set for Nicky and Noah’s honeymoon adventure?
Griswold: I’ve never been to either. Though, I would like to see Vermont at some point. I’ve been to other island-type places, and don’t need to see Hawaii. I’m not much for crowds (hence sitting in an audio studio).
Joe: How did you get started in the audiobook field?
Griswold: I was reading to my kids the second book in the Chronicles of Narnia series – The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe – and our homeschooling adviser overheard me reading out loud and said, “Oh my goodness! You have such a great voice! Have you ever considered doing audiobooks?” I laughed it off and thought nothing of it the rest of the day; until nine additional people, who have no relation to one another, told me the exact same thing the exact same way! I took that as a divine sign and started researching. Three years later, here I am.
Joe: You’ve performed/produced numerous audiobooks. Which types of books are your favorite?
Griswold: I enjoy doing romantic mysteries that tickle your pickle and make you giggle.
Joe: What else attracted you to Drama Luau, the fourth Nicky and Noah mystery—besides the wonderful writing (smile)?
Griswold: I’ll be honest, the fact that I could relate to some of the hysterically funny antics between the characters was a huge plus for me. I have a background in theater going all the way back to middle school. If I’m given the opportunity to act and put on a show, I will. That, and my wife read the manuscript with me and practically elbowed me in my ribs while saying, “Honey you HAVE to do this one. I want to laugh too! You can totally rock this one!”
Joe: And you did a great job. I laughed out loud when hearing the audiobook, and I wrote it!
Griswold: You’re giving me a big head.
Joe: “No pun intended,” as Nicky would say.
Griswold: Terrific and totally true. “Try saying that three times fast while gargling,” as Nicky would say.
Joe: Was Drama Luau your first gay-themed audiobook? First comedy?
Griswold: First comedy, no. First gay-themed audiobook, yes. Will there be more in my future? I do believe so, wink wink.
Joe: We can break the news that you will be performing/producing the audiobook of Drama Detective, the fifth Nicky and Noah mystery!
Griswold: I can’t wait.
Joe: Me too. What was the biggest challenge in bringing Drama Luau to audiobook life?
Griswold: I have five kids. There are several things that just “happen” to go bump during the day.
Joe: Not to mention the over twenty diverse characters voices you did to perfection. Okay, let’s talk about my favorite subject—me (smile). How was it working with me?
Griswold: You, sir, are a true delight and what I wish every narrator has the opportunity to have: full communication. For that I thank you.
Joe: All completely true. But you forgot to mention my modesty. Why should audiobook lovers buy Drama Luau?
Griswold: For those who love audiobooks, this one is sweet, lighthearted, keeps you guessing, makes you laugh until your belly hurts, makes you blush, and also supplies that happy ending we all crave.
Joe: “No pun intended,” as Nicky would say. And now I’m blushing—but agreeing. And don’t forget the cozy locations, fun plot twists and turns, and the jaw-dropping finish, which still surprises me!
Griswold: Me too!
Joe: What might you be found doing when you aren’t narrating?
Griswold: Truth be told, I’m a self-taught baker for over 10 years now. I love baking sweet treats for my family. Anything from cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, or cheesecakes. Also, I love playing disc golf… or frisbee golf for those who don’t play, haha!
Joe: How can audiobook fans find out more about you?
Griswold: They can keep tabs on me by stalking my Instagram profile which can be found here: @griswoldaddams
Joe: Thank you for your time and talent, Griswold. I look forward to many more collaborations!
Griswold: Right back at you, Joe.

I have these and hope to start them this week.
Mysteries are great lists I love seeing the characters find tidbits/clues that build on the case they’re working on.
