BLURB:
Skandik and Owens, private detectives. Can they find a man who vanished over thirty years ago? Or will their first case break them apart?
With a new job as a private detective on a small island, Olaf has everything he’s dreamed of. A life as an openly gay man, a partner who adores every fuzzy hair on his body, and his adopted family and friends who love him. So why does he feel something is still missing?
With a promotion that’s his for the taking, Paul has everything he never dreamed of. His closeted cop is finally in the same country as him. His interfering family and friends are happy for him. So why isn’t he satisfied?
Then on his first day of business Olaf gets the worst possible case. To discover whether a sixteen-year-old gay boy who disappeared thirty-five years ago is alive or dead. As they delve into the dark history of the boy’s family, both Olaf and Paul are forced to confront their relationship.
Will Paul take the promotion? Will Olaf walk away if he does? Or will they face the fact that their relationship is more important than anything else?
They stayed at the Lagoon late into the evening. Nick had a night off, and Jeff wasn’t on call. Wig and Nibs joined them when the restaurant closed. It was good to spend time together and Olaf relaxed in a way he only did when he was around these eight men who had become the closest friends he’d ever had. Paul dozed off as the night progressed, sleeping against Olaf’s chest.
“How’s he doing?” Logan asked quietly. Olaf bit his lip and Logan nodded. “Bring him over soon. Really soon.”
“He won’t agree.”
Liam leaned forwards. “He will. I’ll talk to him.”
The guys went silent for a moment, and Liam rolled his eyes.
Olaf grinned at him. “You know they’re trying to think of something kind to say to you.”
“I know,” Liam sighed. “Seriously, guys, you can quit treading on eggshells around me. I’m all good.”
“He’s just fine.” Sam leered at him.
Olaf noticed Logan said nothing, but maybe that was a professional thing. He did know that if it hadn’t been for Logan, Liam might not have been sitting here today.
“The alternative is he talks to me,” Jeff said. He rolled his eyes as Logan shuddered. “I’m not that bad.”
“You’re worse,” Logan said, “but I love you.”
Nick raised an eyebrow. “Is there something Cam and I should know?”
They both flipped him off.
“Charming,” Nick muttered, then smirked at them.
Paul sighed and burrowed into Olaf who kissed the top of his head.
“I’ll take him home,” Olaf said. “It’s been a long day.”
“Has he made up his mind about the promotion?” Nibs asked.
Olaf was surprised that Nibs, who tended to be on the outskirts of the group simply because of the long hours he worked, knew about the promotion.
“Not yet.” Olaf didn’t want to think about it.
“You tie him to the bed and make him stay here,” Nibs advised.
Olaf smiled at him. “I think I might just do that.”
Paul raised his head, blinking at him sleepily. “You’re the one tied to the bed, remember?”
It was a measure of how well they all knew each other that this comment didn’t even merit a lull in the conversation.
“I think it’s time that changed,” Olaf whispered in his ear, loving Paul’s shudder. “Let’s go home.”
Paul sat up and knuckled his eyes. “How long was I asleep?”
“About an hour.”
“Damn, sorry guys. I can’t wait for this to be over.”
“You’ve got to give yourself a chance to heal,” Nick said.
Liam and Logan nodded.
“As a group we’ve spent more than our fair share of time bruised and battered,” Liam laughed.
“Do you remember that patient who smacked you in the face?” Cameron asked Jeff.
“Or the arseholes who pushed you down the stairs,” Jeff responded.
Olaf stood and took Paul with him. “I’ll leave you to compare injuries. I’m taking my boy home.”
They were hugged and kissed. Logan hugged him with a muttered, “Soon, you hear?”
“I promise,” Olaf agreed. If Logan was worried enough about Paul to insist, he would obey.
Liam took Paul to one side and spoke to him. Olaf saw Paul’s eyebrows knit, and his expression grew mutinous, but Liam kept talking and finally Paul sighed and nodded. Olaf breathed easier. Paul would do anything to make his brother-in-law happy.
They were walking to the car, Olaf’s arm around Paul’s shoulders, when Paul said, “Did you get ambushed too?”
“Yeah, while you were asleep.”
“Do you think I need to talk to Logan?”
“You’re friends so I don’t know if you can talk to him formally, but maybe just a chat? Reassure them all. You know they won’t let it go otherwise.”
Cranky middle-aged author with an addiction for coffee, and a passion for romancing two guys. She loves her dog, she loves her kids, and she loves coffee; in which order very much depends on the time of day.

I have the first books buried on my kindles somewhere. I’ll have to unearth them.
The cover is gorgeous and the blurb seals the deal. I definitely want to add this to my library.
