Sebastian Drake, stoic protector of the Drake family, always gets what he wants – and there is nothing he wants more than the half-starved Pedigree omega named Peregrine he comes across on his travels. It doesn’t matter that Peregrine is a disgrace. Sebastian will do whatever it takes to keep him…and somehow, as impossible as it might be, find a way to be his mate.
Present Day
For hundreds of years, Peregrine has enjoyed life as Sebastian’s mate. Sure, as one of the only bonded omegas in recent history, he’s been kidnapped more times than he can count, but with Sebastian there to save him, it’s little more than an inconvenience. And attacks from hostile clans? That’s just a typical Tuesday.
But there is one thing Peregrine fears yet desperately wants.
One thing that has hurt him time and time again.
One thing Sebastian can’t save him from.
And now it’s happening again.
He’s pregnant.
Peregrine is an 85,000 word omegaverse mpreg romance set prior to as well as following the events of the Forbidden Desires series. Oh Perry! How do I love you! Let me count the ways!! 💕
This story is everything. Peregrine Drake has been such a lovely character through all the Forbidden Desire and Spin-off books. Just one of my absolute favorites. This story of his origin and heartbreak was just so so good 🙂 His love for Sebastian and his wonder in how he got so lucky as to find his mate. His heartbreak – over and over – so palpable.
Sebastian, who has been the big scary protector dragon throughout the previous books reveals his tender side here. And that tender side is 100% thanks to Peregrine, his beloved omega of over 500 years. His vow to keep Perry safe no matter what is sacred. Perry is his heart and soul and he’s nothing without him. Despite their centuries together and the children they’ve raised, the pain of what they’ve lost still lingers. But this time will be different – he will make sure. No matter what. No matter who gets in his way. If anything happens to Perry or his child, there will be hell to pay and he will kill, despite what that might mean to his family.
But when Perry’s pregnant – again – he’s shattered because of this losses 🙁 When he tells Sebastian that he cannot survive another, Sebastian tells him this time will be different. He will do whatever it takes. He will not let Perry suffer another loss. But to protect Perry will take more than just Sebastian. And reluctantly, Sebastian and Perry accept the assistance of their family. But just when they think they are home free, the threat returns. And despite everyone’s efforts, Sebastian and Perry may still lose what they treasure most.
This book is just *chef’s kiss* perfection. Perry has always been the center of this clan – even if nobody has recognized it. No matter what happens with the Drake brothers and their mates, Perry is always there with a kind word, support, a birthday party – no matter what he’s a rock for everyone. To watch them come together to protect his family – well that’s everything to him. I loved the memories of Perry and Sebastian from their coming together 0ver 500 years prior. Getting to know Peregrine before he was Sebastian’s mate and know what he went through and how surprised he has been by his life was sooo good 🙂 I also LOVED getting to see Alistair and Everard as “young” dragons as well. So entertaining!! So many other lovely surprises as well 🙂 Adored them all!
Sebastian’s protective nature over Perry has been there since he first laid eyes on him. He’s done everything in his power to make Perry happy, so the fact that he’s never been able to do this for him has weighed heavily on him as well. His desire to make everything perfect for Perry and for their coming child is of course affected by the fact there is obviously someone who still wants to do Perry harm 🙁 But he’s not having it and working with his family and threatening those that need to be threatened is the only way. Although we end up with a happy for now for Perry and Sebastian and their family, this is definitely not over.
Michael Ferraiuolo. What can I say about Michael that hasn’t been said before? PERFECTION! This story is so so beautiful. And it becomes that much more heartbreaking/poignant in Michael’s more than capable hands. Perry’s story is so moving. I loved every little bit of this – from Perry’s mistress of his cloister, to Perry’s tortoise. to the scampering children, Michael paints a beautiful picture of Perry and Sebastian’s love story with his narration. I cannot recommend this book and this entire series more highly. It’s just brilliant – from the first word to the last and Michael’s narration raises it to another level of enjoyment.
I can’t believe we have to wait almost 7 months for Raven, the final book in the series!! But wait we shall. In the meantime, I will have to content myself with rereads/relistens until January 2022. *sigh*
