Release Blitz & Exclusive Excerpt:
Ache by Marley Valentine
I couldn’t tell you when I fell in love with Gael Herrera, but I wish I knew how to make it stop.
Falling in love with a straight man is a rookie mistake. But falling in love with my soon-to-be-married-to-a-woman best friend is nothing but heartache.
Through all the years, and all the men I’ve fooled around with, he’s always been at the back of my mind. An unrequited crush I wish I could shake. A dream that was never going to come true.
When I whisk him off to a surprise bachelor party weekend in Vegas, I surrender to the idea that this is an opportunity for me to finally let go of my feelings for him and say goodbye.
But after a heated exchange and an even hotter kiss, everything I thought I knew about our friendship changed.
Maybe I had it wrong. Maybe, after all this time, we were more than best friends. Maybe, just maybe, he felt it too.

“Jordan,” I hear my father call out. “You’re just in time to dress up as Santa.”
“Sorry, Papa Bear,” he responds. “I don’t think these abs of mine can be mistaken for the fat man’s beer gut.”
Stepping into the foyer, my gaze drifts to the sound of the voices just in time to see Jordan lifting his shirt and showing off his rock-hard body. My eyes do a subtle perusal, taking in his bare skin and all the dips and grooves of his stomach. It’s a quick, mastered glance. One that I’ve practiced and perfected in hopes of hiding the truth for the last ten years. A disinterested look that is the complete opposite of what I really want to do, which is to stare and salivate over how good he always looks.
Dressed in all black and standing tall, it’s never a hardship looking at his six-foot-two frame. He works out regularly, we both do, but between his broad shoulders and the ever-present muscle definition that graces every inch of him, it’s impossible not to notice every time he steps into the room.
But the showstopper will always be his face. A beautiful blend of pretty and masculine, he’s got the jawline of a Greek god, pillowy pink lips, and gray-blue eyes that change shades with his every mood.
As he runs his hands through his light brown hair and jokes and laughs with my dad, it’s an absolute miracle I’ve managed to hide my attraction to him for all these years.
Instead, I slap on a smile and perfectly time my interruption, laughing at his ridiculousness, because if there’s ever a chance to show off what’s underneath his clothes, Jordan is the first one to volunteer.
“How many times do I have to tell you, nobody wants to see your body,” I say, announcing my presence.
Jordan’s eyes dart to mine, an unmistakable flash of heat passing through as he peruses the length of my body, before teasingly biting his bottom lip. “Frankie didn’t seem to mind.”
I have to bite my tongue and force myself to roll my eyes in jest like I always do when Jordan talks about Frankie. To pretend that the name alone doesn’t make my stomach churn and blood boil.
Jordan usually has a revolving door of conquests. He doesn’t hide it from me, nor should he, but something about Frankie feels permanent. Much more permanent than anyone before him, and even though I have no right to feel the way I do, I loathe it.
