Simon
Being the nephew of one of the most infamous mob bosses in the world isn’t easy. Our family has enemies everywhere, and no one is safe without protection. Here I am at college with a fresh start, a new last name, and secrets hidden from those around me—life is going according to plan. Then one day on campus, I see him…and I want him to strip me bare…in more ways than one.
Rush
Abernathy is more than just the university I attend. It’s my destiny, my namesake. Singing and entertaining are who I am, but my father wants me to major in something more appropriate for the name I carry. I’ve resigned myself to being who my father wants, doing what he wants. Then Simon comes into my life…and turns everything upside down. Now I have a reason to fight for what I want.
Who knew our love story would lead to secrets revealed, murderous plots, and finding our forever buried under so many lies? Hopefully we’ll live long enough to see it.
*This is a Haven Hart Novel and does not follow the larger story arc in the first 7 books. For a more enjoyable reading experience, you should read the Haven Hart Series in order.
REVIEW:
It’s not that I haven’t enjoyed the Jokers Sin series, but it’s lovely to be back with the Manos family, especially to take a peep at the all-grown-up, Simon. It was so cute that Eight made an appearance and it was lovely to see my second favourite character, Snow again after what seems like such a long time.
The story is told, as usual in split perspective, first person and can technically be read as a stand-alone but is so much better if read as part of the original Haven Hart series. I know that some people dislike first-person stories and if so, this is not for you. Your loss.
I have said before that this writer goes from strength to strength and I still say so. In my opinion this is not the best story of the series, because I have strong favourites, but technically it’s flow and technical ability has improved a great deal from the first books of the series.
Simon is a familiar, and dear, character to all who have read the Haven Hart series and fans have been waiting a long time for his story. It was worth the wait. The new characters we meet are as fascinating, three dimensional and unique as all the ones who have gone before. Rush is a darling and suits Simon very well, and Frank is adorable as a clueless villain.
I thoroughly enjoyed this latest, and possibly last, installment of the Haven Hart series, and hope that the city and its crazy inhabitants live on in the Jokers Sin series.
If this author is new to you then you can choose any of her books and know you will be getting a good read.
