Finding his way in life all on his own hadn’t been easy for eighteen-year-old Elliot Hedrick, but he’d managed to hold it all together so far.
Even though it was just by the skin of his teeth.
Between his warehouse job and pursuing a career as a professional ballet dancer, he’d been working sixteen-hour days and was still barely making ends meet.
He was fraying at the seams. And he was so damn lonely.
There was nobody for him to lean on, nobody to come to his rescue when things fell apart—it was all up to him to achieve his dreams.
Then suddenly Grant Weston charged into Elliot’s life, his knight in shining armor—literally and figuratively—and despite their twenty-year age gap, Grant couldn’t seem to leave the boy alone. Even though Grant knew he should.
There were too many obstacles between them—and not just their ages. Grant had secrets of his own, ghosts from his past that made him hold back from taking what he really wanted from Elliot.
And what Grant wanted was to make Elliot his boy.
To have a true partner.
But Grant was afraid to trust himself—afraid that history would repeat itself and leave him with a broken heart yet again.
Is age really just a number, or will the years between them end their relationship before it can even start?
Finding His Boy is the first book in a duet taking place in the Safe Harbor universe but can be read as a stand-alone and has an HFN ending. This book is a 90+K word slow burn, steamy romance that features a Daddy/boy relationship between two consenting adult men. No age play. Dual POV. There are explicit descriptions of sexual acts, so this book is intended for a mature audience (18+).
Trigger Warning: on-page physical assault (not between MCs), mention of sexual assault.
REVIEW:
This brand-new author sure took me for a ride! Can’t wait for Grant and Elliot’s story to continue! A definite page turner that kept me riveted.
Elliot’s life has been a rollercoaster since his only parent, his Dad, died suddenly. And this is definitely not the fun kind of rollercoaster either. Just when he thinks life can’t get any harder his former high school buddy decides that he needs a piece of him in the college gym showers. Thankfully someone heard him before Tanner actually rapes him! That knight in shining armor is actually his former HS teacher that is now a professor at the college he has a part time job at. The second Grant literally saves him is the second both of their lives are changed forever. Or can forever be real with such an age gap and their previous lives that keep getting in their ways?
I will start of with that I freaking loved this book and can’t wait for the second part of Grant and Elliot’s story. I just couldn’t set it down and this is a pretty long book. But there are a few things that really bothered me. And I am really hoping they get solved in the second book. First of all Elliot is only 16 when his Dad suddenly passed away. Who the heck looked out for this boy when that happened? His estate lawyer and his realtor sounded unscrupulous at best. And if his Dad was a Captain in the Portland Police Department wouldn’t at least one of his fellow cop buddies stepped up to make sure Elliot was taken care of? And where was his Police pension and survivor benefits? I mean this poor kid has been literally starving himself while trying to do the right thing plus dance professionally and work a warehouse job. It just doesn’t make sense. I know that the time between when Grant starts questioning the whys and the story ends for now is pretty fast. Like I said, I’m hoping this all is resolved in the next book. Also, being a former educator, we are mandatory reporters and the attempted rape happened on school grounds. I don’t care how much Elliot plead and begged, this was assault at the minimum and should have been reported immediately! Grant was just damn lucky that he wasn’t fired immediately for that breach.
I loved also how Grant cherished Elliot and went slowly with him. It was obvious where these two were heading even though they might not have seen and trusted what was happening. Some of the side characters such as Kyle, Sawyer and Eliza really made this work.
As I stated, I loved this book and can’t wait for the next book to see how all goes. This has a nice HFN but I’m greedy and need my HEA!
