RELEASE DATE: May 21, 2021
BLURB:
Cole loves the city. He loves the noise, chaos, and having tacos delivered at 2 a.m.
He loves his job at Ward Security. He might look like a bodyguard, but there’s nothing better than being counted as one of the hacking tech triplets.
There is no way he will ever love horses, cows, and the great wide open of Texas. At least, that’s what he thinks until JB Alexander rides into his life.
He can’t deny the burning attraction of JB’s easy smile and weird sense of humor.
And while they’re dodging gun shots, crazy neighbors, meddling family, and secret plots, Cole might be forced to admit that he’s found an even greater love.
REVIEW:
I have waited a long time for this book. It is certainly worth the long wait for! Getting JB Alexander’s own story and with our very quiet Cole McCord of the Triplets to boot! So so worth it!
Ward Security, owned by Rowe Ward has been reaping success after so much challenges during the time Rowe, with his best friends, Lucas, Snow and Ian fought an old enemy. We saw all of that happened in the Unbreakable Bonds. This spinoff series has been focusing on the security personnel employed with Ward Security. We have had the stories of Sven, Quinn, Royce, Dominic and Daniel. Now it is time for Cole McCord, one third of the Triplets, alongside Gidget and Quinn, who are Rowe’s IT Specialists.
We met JB Alexander a few years and books back, when with Noah and Rowe, they were trying to unravel who were trying to kill the members of Noah’s Army Ranger unit. JB was Noah’s former lover and still his best friend. Those were exciting and explosive times that happened in Ignite, book 7 of the Unbreakable Bonds series.
After a sting operation that landed Cole in some hot water (not anyone’s fault but the perpetrator), because he agreed to help out gather evidence for an abused wife who sought the firm’s protection when her life and that of her child were threatened by her ex-husband who just can’t seem to let her go, Rowe decided to send Cole to JB’s farm in Texas until they are able to put the husband away for good. The husband is somehow tied with a mob group.
JB was in love with Noah during the time they were in the Army Ranger unit together. In fact Noah was the reason he enlisted again after his first tour. But after what happened to them a few years back, fighting for their lives alongside Noah’s lover, Rowe, JB realized that he has never seen Noah so happy and content with his life until he has gotten together with Rowe. A few years has passed since then and the ache that he used to feel for Noah is not there anymore. But he longs for someone to love him just as deeply as Noah loves Rowe and vice versa.
When Rowe asked him a favor by hiding one of his IT Specialist in his ranch, he readily agreed to it. After all, friends do that to each other right? And JB and Rowe have become friends since then. Well, he thinks Rowe is crazy but his best friend loves the guy so much, so there must be some sanity in there somewhere (snickers).
A land developer has been buying the ranches and farmland alongside and across the Alexander Ranch and JB’s family has been refusing to sell. A plan for a big resort is in the works but JB’s family is the holdout. They have no plans of selling at all. Their land has been in their family for so long. Small problems start to crop up in the ranch, and there were a few times when JB’s life has been physically threatened, and Cole was by his side in all of these times. They started to investigate the happenings in the other two ranches who has decided to sell their land. Some of the things happening in those ranches has started to happen in the Alexander ranch as well.
In the meantime, Cole’s growing attraction to JB is confusing him. But it is not enough to make him back off it. JB has been upfront with his sexuality from the get go. His parents don’t have any problem with it too. As Cole adjusts to how he feels about JB, their burgeoning feelings for each other grows.
In a typical Ward Security book, you can expect, humor, shenanigans, a lot of feelings and hotness in this book. I am so happy that JB finally got his story and that Cole’s quietness has morphed into this amazing person that JB totally trusts and can expect to be by his side always, a quiet strength ready to get into the middle of any situation, either to stop it or join it. Their feelings toward each other started with friendship, which I think is always the best foundation for a relationship, and develop into so much more.
Wicked Outlaw is totally wicked. I love it so much! Congratulations Ms. Jocelynn Drake and Ms. Rinda Elliott! I cannot wait for the next one!
