A Sucker For Love Mystery
It’s just Ted’s luck that he meets the love of his life while covered in the blood of a murder victim.
Funeral worker Ted Sturm has a foul mouth, a big heart, and a knack for communicating with the dead. Unfortunately the dead don’t make very good friends, and Ted’s only living pal, his roommate, just rescued a strange cat who’s determined to make his life even more miserable. This cat is more than he seems, and soon Ted finds himself in an alternate dimension… and on top of a dead body.
When Ted is accused of murder, his only ally in a strange world full of powerful magical beings calling for his head is King Grell, a sarcastic, randy, catlike immortal with impressive abilities… and anatomy. The two soon find themselves at the center of a cosmic conspiracy and surrounded by dangerous enemies. But with Ted’s special skills and Grell’s magic, they have a chance to get to the bottom of the mystery and save Ted. There’s just one problem: Ted’s got to resist Grell’s aggressive advances… and he isn’t sure he wants to.
REVIEW:
I am so in love with this series, that I really hope there are going to be a few more coming. I have a feeling I know who’s going to be next, but then again I could be wrong. I also loved seeing some ‘old friends’ pop up in this story. I was very happy they were included and looking like it will be a long time thing. They were a pain in the butt but in the end, they made all the difference.
I truly felt for Ted in this book. Being terrified to make changes in your life and not knowing why, but being miserable by the way his life is. Not to mention his ‘talent’ or curse, if you want to call it that. But what hurt me the most about him, is he really had no clue as to why part of his life was the way it was. Until he got a nasty wake up call from what he assumed was a cat. How wrong again he was. Now he’s in another dimension and his world has turned upside down. In more ways than one. He finds an unusual attraction to the King. And when you find out about him, you’ll know why it’s unusual. He’s also being framed for murder. And he finally finds out the truth about what happened to him, but doesn’t know who or how it was fixed. So I don’t blame him for being gun shy or even being foulmouthed and snarky. It was his defense. Everyone expected him to be a certain way, when he really wanted the complete opposite.
But I have to admit, it was funny as heck when he met Grell. Oh. My. Word. Ted more than met his match with this snarky, frustrating King, who loves to answer questions with questions or not answer them at all. Because he’s the King and can do what he wants. LOL. But. He is a good one for Ted. Not only does he keep him on his toes, he makes him come out of that shell of his. He sees Ted for Ted. What his real dreams and desires are. And Ted is just as good for Grell. Grell hasn’t been happy for many, many years due to certain circumstances and now is stuck going through more horrors as time goes on. Horrors that hit waaaay below the belt, and is like a knife to the heart. But Ted being the caring man he really is, shows Grell things will hopefully get better. And if they don’t, Ted will be by his side to get him through. At least for now. But Ted is about to be in for another surprise he doesn’t know of yet.
And the fur, pun intended, is about to fly. This is a really good series. It is one that is worth reading over again, just for the fun of it. I can’t wait to see if who I think is next and where the plot is going to lead. Because with the way book 1 was trying to turn out and now book 2, I think the world may be in for a rude awakening the way it’s going. And I’m going to love every minute.
