As long as LonelyDaddy is on the other side of the computer screen, there’s a chance he could be the man Emerson has been dreaming of.
I’ve gotten used to being alone, to disappearing inside the fictional worlds between the pages of a book and letting my lonely life fade away.
Books have never judged me for the stutter I can’t control. Books have never abandoned me. Books have never let me down. Then again, books have never hugged me or told me they love me either, so my plan is far from perfect.
The first time I lay eyes on the tall, red haired Kiernan with a beard for days and shoulders made for scratch marks, I wanted to crawl into his lap and call him Daddy. The only problem is, I can never seem to string two words together around him… heck, I’d be happy to manage to get even one word out, like maybe “yes”, preferably over and over again.
I thought making an online dating profile would be the hardest part, but it turns out getting up the courage to meet the man I’ve been messaging is even more difficult. Could LonelyDaddy be Kiernan? And if he is, is there any chance he’ll want to keep me? Can I be his brave boy?
***Brave Boy is the online love-sweet, ginger Daddy- totally swoony- second book in the Perfect Boys series and can be read as a stand-alone.
REVIEW:
Note: Since this is the second book in the series, there are minor spoilers for Book 1, but it works perfectly well as a stand-alone.
Emerson is a young guy who owns a bookstore. He’s been on his own since his grandfather died. He’s got enough money, he loves his store, he finally has some good friends and he’s got his secret hobby as well. But what he really wants is what he sees his BFF Sterling has with his Daddy, Barrett. He’s completely enamored of Kiernan, one of Barrett’s business partners and best friends since he met him at a meeting to get support for his and Sterling’s mobile library project. But he also has a stutter. And the more nervous or excited he gets, the harder it is to get words out 🙁 So he doesn’t see how he could ever get up to the courage to be with someone like Keirnan.
Kiernan has been depressed at his luck in finding his own boy. He doesn’t want to be jealous of Barrett, but he is envious of what his best friend has with Sterling. He’s tired of the gold diggers he seems to keep finding. So he sets up an anonymous profile on M4M in the kind section a LonleyDaddy hoping he can find someone who will want him for himself – not his wallet.
Emerson decides to take Sterling’s advise and “practice” with a Daddy on a chat app, M4M in the Kink section. So as BraveBoy, he meets LonelyDaddy. There are a few coincidences and Emerson things Kiernan might be LonelyDaddy. Kiernan thinks that BraveBoy might be Emerson, but when Emerson lies to him about something and doesn’t seem like he’s comfortable with Kiernan, he begins to doubt that it’s the case. But he still wants to see where things go. As BB and LD get to know each other more, they text and even have a virtual date. At this point neither is sure who the other man is. But eventually there are too many coincidences and Kiernan knows for sure that BB is indeed Emerson. But he doesn’t share what he knows.
Finally, Kiernan needs to bite the bullet and set up a meeting for them in person. A masquerade party comes at just the perfect time and he invites BB to be LD’s date. The question is, will Emerson be happy or will he be angry when he realizes that Kiernan is LD and has known for a while that BB is really Emerson? If Emerson can truly be a Brave Boy, then maybe Kiernan will no longer be a Lonely Daddy.
Well this was a really sweet and swoony story. I’ve said before that Daddy kink is not really my thing, but I really enjoyed the blossoming relationship between these two. I think because there isn’t such an imbalance of power (Emerson has his own money, he doesn’t need “rescuing”, he’s got a business and friends), I appreciated the way that Kiernan came around to realizing that he didn’t have to “buy” Emerson’s love. Kiernan also was such a good fit for Emerson because he had so much love and care to give and Emerson was like a sponge, ready to soak it all up. Emerson was lonely in his own way just as much as Kiernan was and together, they were a perfect fit. Emerson really was brave telling Kiernan what he wanted – and that it wasn’t things that he was interested in. These two were completely adorable together and I just wanted to seem them both happy. For anyone looking for a sweet romance with a happy ending and enjoys Daddy/boy relationships, I think this will fit the bill perfectly. Recommended.
