Blog Tour, Guestpost, Excerpt & Giveaway: Whatever He Needs by Mia Kerick
Liam falls for a guy from the wrong side of the tracks who has a shedload of issues, but is the sweetest person he’s ever known.
CORE VALUES
Liam McAllister might be a preppy rich kid, but for one night all he cares about is finding the seediest bar in town and forgetting his complicated life for a few hours. When a captivating purple-haired go-go dancer catches his eye, his plans change.
Following in his larger-than-life father’s footsteps is ingrained in his DNA, but this dancer, who is nothing like what his parents expect of him, is a desire Liam can’t ignore.
For Dimmy Cirillo, being dissed is nothing new. After his mother’s death, he’s sought his cruel, narcissistic father’s approval, only to learn he’s nothing more than a commodity to the heartless man. When a sexy patron shows him a life he’s always dreamed of, he revels in the attention, even though he knows it’ll never last.
A swift kick of reality has Liam questioning his duty to his father, and puts his relationship with Dimmy in jeopardy. They must find a way to break free from their pasts if they’re ever going to have a shot of building a future together.

Hello, everybody at LOVE BYTES! I’m so happy and thankful to be here today to promote my new release, Whatever He Needs. If you like a serving of angst with your passion, THIS IS YOUR BOOK. Dimmy can’t trust the people who are supposed to love him and can’t wholly love the man who has stolen his heart. (That’s Dimmy on the cover…with the purple hair.) Today I want to talk about something that has become NEAR and DEAR to my heart. This is how it started…. “You need to create a Facebook author’s group to express who you are as an author and to get to know your readers.” Can’t recall who suggested this. Probably everybody. An author’s group? I have author’s accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. As I’m a (ridiculously obsessed) overachiever, I have not one, but two websites. And this author’s group thing sounds like a lot of responsibility… Will I be able to keep up with it? WILL ANYBODY EVEN WANT TO JOIN??? Ugh. It’s a tall order—because how the heck do I even set up an author’s group? Saying that technology has never been my strong suit is like the understatement of my adult life. Gulp. With Dead Sea, I decided that, since I had no author’s group of my own, I’d request (beg) to visit other author’s groups to spread the word. The authors were so welcoming to me. Their readers were like cute little families. Okay, okay…maybe I turned (a pale shade) of green with envy. Along the way, I met a PA named Barb Payne Ingram (AKA my life saver and I appreciate you) who offered to help me. Not even as a job—just as a nice, helpful human being. After I saw the magic she could perform, I wanted MORE of it. I have since hired her to help me with a few specific tasks. Without her I never could have started my author’s group. (And can you say RELEASE DAY PARTY? Whatever He Needs releases May 4th and Barb is SO ON THIS. Like, to the tune of 25 visiting authors. Thank heavens!) “What do you want to name your author’s group, Mia?” Barb asked. Let’s see… Mia’s Mixed Bag of Men (alliteration is cool) Mia’s Male Magnet Mashup (too much of a good thing is a bad thing, yeah?) Double-edged Swords (my bad guys are good and bad—they cut both ways—but swords???) Bittersweet Boys (back to alliteration) He Gets the Guy in the End (is “in the end” an inappropriate double entendre? And is this a spoiler?) Well, I named the group Mia’s Lost Boys because it is SO TRUE. My main characters are all lost, in one way or another. I’m having SO MUCH fun and am collecting too many warm fuzzies to count from my new author’s group. YOU CAN FIND MIA’S LOST BOYS HERE: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3769563033151500 JOIN US!!!!! Hmmmm… I could have named the group The Warm Fuzzies. Too late. It’s already set up and I’m confused enough without changing the group’s name. LOL. We are having A BLAST. (At least I am.) Why did I not create an author’s group sooner? We play together nicely and share well (you know, the warm fuzzies.) I have a schedule too. It is rigorous for a newbie like me. I conduct reader interviews… so we can get to know each other…with MIA-MADE COLLAGES!! And we play games. Just saying…. Here’s an example of a game we played: All that was required was to examine the eye candy…I mean, the Lost Boys, choose your favorite, and comment. Guess what came next? Amazon gift card raffle, baby!!! Well, anyway, I’m here because I have a new release, Whatever He Needs, and let me tell you, Liam and Dimmy are some serious LOST BOYS you are gonna want to meet. And I promise: after the angst you will feel the warm fuzzies… <3 Mia
Liam The bartender is back a few seconds later with a Tomboy Amber beer so icy cold that I take a few pulls and start to chill. It’s what I need after the workweek that wouldn’t end. A few long swallows later, the bottle’s close to empty. Ahhh…I let my gaze get sucked back to the kid on the cube—the sight of him has somehow magnetized me. Alva, as it says on the bartender’s faded nametag, wipes down my part of the bar, and I lean across and blurt, “Tell me more about him.” I’m usually on the cool side—did I actually demand Dimmy’s unauthorized bio? Looks like tonight I’m thirsty for more than just beer. “He’s Gregory Cirillo’s kid—he’s the bar manager and a big deal in this part of town.” “And his son’s a…hooker?” Father would be displeased to learn that one of his properties is hosting a prostitution ring. For some reason, though, this isn’t my most pressing concern. The kid’s life is messy, I’m certain. I don’t want to hear it’s that kind of messy. “Not yet, that I know of.” As I puzzle over her vague reply, we watch Dimmy roll his narrow hips in an absently come-hither manner. He never visually engages with the guys clustered at his feet, though. Some are reaching out for him, and others toss cash into an orange plastic bucket sloppily marked “PAWS OFF MY TIPS!” It’s as if the dancer is all alone, performing in front of his bedroom window. A vacant ceiling-stare serves as his shield, protecting him from a hot-for-his-ass audience, blaring music, and the inescapable filth.

Award-winning gay romance author, Mia Kerick, knows that a satisfying romance novel is riddled with challenges. For true love to prevail, the leading men are gonna have to put in some effort. But the HEA is oh-so rewarding.
Mia has a great affinity for the damaged teenage soul in literature. Her YA gay contemporary romance focuses on such tropes as hurt/comfort and dark secrets that keep them apart. In Kerick’s books, the course of true love never does run smooth.
Mia’s books have been featured in Kirkus Reviews magazine. They have won a 2019 IPPY GOLD award for Juvenile/Young Adult Fiction, a 2018 YA GOLD MOONBEAM Children’s Book Award, a YA Readers’ Favorite Award, several Gold Rainbow Awards in YA and adult categories, a Reader Views’ Book by Book Publicity Literary Award, the Jack Eadon Award for Best Book in Contemporary Drama, a YA Indie Fab Award, a First Place Royal Dragonfly Award for Cultural Diversity, a First Place Story Monsters Purple Dragonfly Award, and more.
Mia cheers for each and every victory made in the name of human rights. Her only major regret: never having taken typing or computer class in school, destining her to a life consumed with two-fingered pecking and constant prayer to the Gods of Technology.
