Two strangers running from their dark pasts find redemption in each other.
Harry, a former army doctor, lives in isolation after the devastating war between Rasacara and the Empire came to a bloody and violent conclusion. His lonely life is disrupted by a young, beautiful man surrounded by secrets and suspicion, who would likely destroy Harry if he knew who he was.
Kit, former member of the witch army’s Blue Crows, now on the run from his former master, must keep his identity a secret as his enemy is closing in and Harry, the gruff, mysterious woodsman, is all that stands between him and the man who wants him dead.
Forced together by Kit’s injuries, the two lonely men find comfort in each other, both scarred by the darkness of their pasts, but when Kit’s enemy catches up with him, they are forced to fight, revealing to each other the evils both of them have committed, and testing the strength of their new, fledgling love.

REVIEW:
That was a magnificent story, an art, I loved every part and detail. Wonderfully expressed circumstances and heavy emotions. The way of storytelling was absolutely breathtaking.
The environments were stunning, I was watching a movie, one with mystic, magic, darkness and in the center a blooming warm friendship and even more. I saw it all clearly before my eyes. The way the light fell in and shine on objects and the interior, the scents of food and people, the cabin, the outside, the tentative small steps the friendship made forward, it was all immensely enjoyable.
All the scars they both had, physically and emotionally, were exposed, clarified, and palpable, I found it all quite emotional. When you look at the cover you have a bit of an impression of the ambiance.
One day Harry’s life turns around in a way he never could have guessed.
Kit is on the run for the witch army, he was kept by the commander and abandoned. Heavily injured he ends up at Harry’s property, which is far away from civilization.
Harry can feel the boy’s magic.
Harry has a darkness inside him of huge proportions. He’s suffering and holding his walls high up, afraid to destroy the young man. When, unwillingly, his gates open he’s stunned Kit survived.
Kit reveals how his own magic works.
They get closer and closer, very carefully they reach out to the other. Both have a past that will chill you. There is an amount of hurt. The witch army Blue Crows are not only looking for Kit but also Harry, it seems.
On every front and level, I was enthralled by this story. There is magic as strong as a hurricane, destroying everything on its way. Masterly written, a wonderful balance between dark and light, Nah, to be honest, there was more weight on the dark side. The revealing of significant parts was wonderfully dosed, thereby good to digest. Be aware, there is a lot to stomach.
The storytelling was enchanting. For me a winner.
There is some reader advisory in the blurb of the story, please pay attention.
