REVIEW:
What a sweet, pardon the pun, book. If you are looking for a book to help you over the last book hangover, this one is it. I loved how JP weaved such a wonderful story together.
We have Garrett and Lee as the main characters in this story. Garrett found fame & celebrity with his confectionary confections and then one day his husband does an unforgivable thing. With the dissolution of his marriage, Garrett returns home and with the help of his well-intentioned sister opens a new confectionary store.
As the store becomes more successful, his sister announces she is leaving and helps him find a new store assistant. Lee who is also coming out of a disastrous relationship, applies for the stores assistant position. Hoping against all odds, he can show Garrett his skill in chocolatier. There is only one small, teeny tiny issue… Lee is the unluckiest person. After dropping more pans, than he cares to admit, he has to salvage the destroyed confections.
Garrett discovers Lee’s hidden talents and grudgingly begins to teach him the ins and outs of being a chocolatier. Close working proximity creates lots of sexual tension and brings out Garretts desire for Lee. Lee just hopes he has not screwed up too many times and Garrett will not fire him. Each man has his own reasons for distrusting others. Lee comes across his abusive ex on a date with Garrett, which leads to all kinds of ugly repercussions.
Lee’s ex has latched onto another guy and is repeating the pattern he had with Lee.
Will Garrett be able to let go of his distrust issues?
Will Lee recover from his previous abusive relationship?
Will they be able to bring the new confectionary store to a success? Well, you will need to buy the book and find out.
The worldbuilding is always great in a JP Sayle book as is her characterizations.
If you are looking for a “palate cleansing” book, this one will do the job. I highly recommend this book and as always look forward to the next to JP’s book resume.
