What do you do when someone attempts to frame you for the murder of your roommate? That’s the problem facing kinetic artist Trev Eldridge. Although Detective Quint Hawk determines Trev is innocent, it does nothing to assuage Trev’s fears.
While Quint sets out to discover who’s responsible for the murder, Trev is befriended by Dr Zack Kendall. As Zack helps Trev deal with what happened, the two men begin to bond. At the same time, artist Clay Richardson takes Trev under his wing, after learning Trev is a talented artist.
Evidence leads Quint to a theory about the murder and who is involved. With the help of Trev, Zack, Clay, and Officer Lou Hernandez, they come up with a plan to catch the villains.
With all that is happening, can the growing attraction between Trev and Zack survive before the criminals take them out of the picture…permanently?
REVIEW:
Well, lol, I made a goof with this one. With not reading much the blurb or much about the book, I wasn’t aware this was part of a series. Then I saw Edward posting there’s a 3rd & 4th book, that I now want to read as well as go back and read the first. With reading this, I get the gist of how book 1 goes, but still. It’s a good murder mystery. I’ve honestly always really loved Edward’s work. He has a unique style of writing, whether it be a horror type or murder mystery. And I thoroughly enjoy immersing myself in the worlds he creates. This one was no different. And I really want to see what happens with the next books.
With this one, we come upon action right off the bat. And I love that. There’s a murder, a possible set up, and the bad guys coming back for more. There’s secrets from a roommate that lead to the murder, and the other roommate struggling and trying to find a way to survive what he’s now caught up in and had no clue whatsoever about. And I love it. I love the characters. Quint and Clay are from the first book, but with Quint being a cop, he’s obviously back. He’s fierce in what he does, but although sometimes he may seem a bit gruff, he really does mean well and tries to be so sensitive. I love how he takes Trevor under his wing. It doesn’t seem like it. It really doesn’t. And Trev is terrified. Who could blame him? But he also has a very sensitive doctor who has made his interest known and is making sure things are taken at a good pace. Zach is everything Trev needs and doesn’t even know it. And it’s just a great chemistry.
I also loved meeting Luiz in this book. And I have a feeling book 3 is his. And I definitely want to see who captures his interest and heart.
This is a really good book. Art thieves, drug running, trafficking, murder. All the goodies. And I’m ready for the next one.
