Sometimes Fate has a bizarre sense of humor.
Or at least it seems that way to Gus, owner of the Rainbow Room, Asheville’s main hangout for gay paranormals. He’s seen Fate catch up with the patrons of his bar while he served drinks and listened to their stories for three hundred years. He found all of it amusing, until his fated mate walks in and suddenly the twists aren’t so funny any longer!
Bear Hickes is a mage who specializes in fire, but life has lost its spark since his twin brother got married and left him alone. His older brother, Whimsy, is determined to help Bear find happiness no matter how much Bear objects, but meeting Gus gives Bear a wonderful idea: if Gus will pretend to be his boyfriend, Whimsy will get off his case. And somewhere along the line, Bear finds he wants it to be for real.
But there are secrets Gus is keeping from not just Bear, but the whole world. And when those secrets catch up with him at last, the danger won’t be just for Gus alone.
This story is set in the Asheville Arcana universe, but can be read as a standalone.
Stop Dragon My Heart Around is part of the multi-author Magic Emporium Series. Each book stands alone, but each one features an appearance by Marden’s Magic Emporium, a shop that can appear anywhere, but only once and only when someone’s in dire need. This book contains explicit scenes and a guaranteed HEA.
REVIEW:
If anyone really knows me, they know I’m a cover wh**e. I don’t pay much attention to the blurbs, to be honest, because for me it kind of spoils the story. I want to go into the story blind and see what happens. And I was happy to visit the Arcana boys again. THAT was a major surprise and a thrill to see them all and kind of in a where are they now kind of situation. But this time….there’s a surprise. And it’s Whimsy’s little brother and being that NEVER expected a mate.
I think what I loved about this story so much is actually getting to know Gus and Bear. With Whimsy being such an outgoing, boisterous personality, it’s hard to imagine anyone related to him would be different. But I loved that Gus and Bear connected on a level that really didn’t even have anything to do with being mates. Because Bear had no clue about that. At ALL. It was so interesting to see a side of Gus that no one ever got to see either. Always known as the quiet barman that tolerated no crap, no one knew anything about him. And yet Bear, in all his quiet wonder, managed to worm into the heart of Gus, no matter how hard he tried to fight it. And I love the quiet strength of Bear. Sure, he was going through a rough time at first, but he found his strength in more ways than one and it was so amazing to see him just blossom. And for Gus to finally come out of his shell. In more ways than one. But that’s a surprise you have to read to find out about.
This is a good book. I was so happy to go down memory lane and see everyone again. I loved the mystery and stuff in the book. I’ve always loved the characters and I think it just fits perfectly with the rest of this series. You guys are missing out if you aren’t reading this series.
