My favorite narrators are the ones that make you feel the book. They have great voices and can change the for other characters. There’s a few that I’ve got that I didn’t like because they went to fast or talked it a dull tone. I would love a code from Clare London.
I actually have a spreadsheet of narrators I like, ones that are okay, and ones that I really don’t want to listen to again. Some traits that I like: great comedic timing in books where it’s appropriate; spare and appropriate use of sound effects (i.e. sighs, coughs, laughs); proper interpretation of the characters (i.e. not too over the top — sometimes less is more); appropriate accents for the characters; voice not too high or light (for male characters, of course). Last but not least, don’t read the sex scenes so hot and heavy that it’s practically pornographic. If I wanted that, I’d rent a movie!
Timing – not too fast not too slow
Accents – please match the accent to the character
I prefer deeper voices unless it’s shown that a particular character has a higher voice
Variations in tone for different characters – I want to know who is speaking at any given time
I’d love The Bureau audio 🙂
I normally do not choose an audiobook based on the narrator, but some of them are sure things for me, as I love the way they perform. I guess it is the voice and the cadence that makes me decide…
An audio code of choice from a book by Clare London
I like Gary Furlong and Alan Cummings. Both really bring the books they read to life. I do not have any of the ones offered so I would be happy with any of them
My favorite narrator is Tristan James. I will listen to just about anything he narrates. I like a narrator that has a different voice for each character and Tristan James does really great accents.
Kim Fielding is my choice. Thanks for the giveaway!
First one comes to mind is Michael Ferraiulo. I really like some of the work he did on Alice Winter’s books. His tone and inflection matched the way I was hearing it when I read it.

Alan Cumming, because his Scottish burr is dreamy! Clare London’s my choice…

I love it when a narrator can really capture personalities of characters! Kale Williams is one of my favorites
cadence, pacing and emotion/ feeling in their voice as long as they’re not monotone i’m okay with it.
