Cristobal Gemini has the power to make the sea obey his every command. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for his love life. He has one rule when it comes to dating. Break it and you’re gone. His most recent lover lasted longer than most, but ultimately suffered the same fate. Little did Cristobal know that ending his relationship with Ezra was the worst mistake of his life.
Ezra Black spent the last year in Vermont trying to put his life back together after the messy breakup. His mother’s cancer diagnosis sends him running back to Florida and conveniently into Cristobal, who wants to rekindle their relationship. Ezra isn’t sure if the risk is worth the reward.
Cristobal is willing to do anything to win Ezra back, even going so far as having one of his fellow warlocks attempt to cast a love spell on Ezra. The men begin to reconnect, but a family emergency throws their lives into chaos and threatens to tear them apart forever.
Will the second time be the charm for Cristobal and Ezra? Or is this another mistake in the making?
REVIEW:
I have been eagerly waiting for a new book from Pandora Pine to be released and lo and behold, we get a brand-new series – a lovely surprise to be sure. His Mistake, book one in the Gemini Warlocks series, is a nice opening salvo. This book sets up future books in this series quite nicely. Although, this book took its time to develop.
In this book we are introduced to the main characters of Cristobal and Ezra. We are also introduced to several side characters, that I feel will become the focus of future books. What I love about Pandora’s writing is her ability to create believable worlds and characters out of thin air. She takes a small Florida town and imbues it with the nuances of a paranormal culture intermixed with humans. In this story you have a mix of several elemental warlocks. Our main character Cristobal can control the sea, which makes this little town in Florida ideal – because he keeps hurricanes and the like at bay. But Cristobal has a weakness, and his name is Ezra. Cristobal broke off their budding relationship and Ezra left Florida for Vermont, to try and escape his heartbreak. But circumstances have brought Ezra back to Siesta Key and back into Cristobal’s orbit. In the year Ezra has been gone, Cristobal has come to realize the huge mistake he made in walking away from his relationship with Ezra. But Ezra really does not have time for Cristobal, nor does he really want to travel down a dead-end relationship road. Ezra has come home to help his mom with her cancer diagnosis, not forgive Cristobal for breaking his heart. As this simmers and brews, other forces are at work to destroy everything the Gemini coven has achieved and put-up roadblocks for Ezra and Cristobal to reunite. Will they find their happy ending? Will the coven survive the attacks from outside forces? Will Cristobal and Ezra get caught having sexy times? Do love spells really work? Answers to these pertinent questions can only be found if you go out and get this book.
I found this book to be a low angst, sweet, sometimes funny second chance love story and a great setup book for the rest of the series, however many books that might be. I look forward to reading any future books in this series.
