REVIEW:
Honestly, this was not the best book I have ever read from a technical perspective, but I found that didn’t matter at all. The story and characters stood up for themselves and drove the journey through what was an interesting and intriguing book.
The world of Shade is closer than we think, with things like angels and vampires walking among us openly, although none of them are quite what we expect them to be. On face value, the three protagonists have nothing in common at all. A vampire, a man dying from wraith possession and a seraph. At the beginning of the book, the three come together to save the dying man, and in their forced connection, they find something they never expected and are drawn to each other by more than just necessity. For three such unconnected and distinct characters, the chemistry is unmistakable from the start.
The book is relatively light on sex, although what there is, is smoking hot, and heavy on story, which is complex, coherent and fascinating. Demons, inept sorcerers, goblins, and of course angels, both good and bad, come together to create a witch’s brew of intrigue and interest.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and would love for this author to explore more of the world she so masterfully created.
