The Devoted Alpha By Susi Hawke
West Coast Wolves, Book Three
An awkward, traumatized omega and a patient alpha determined to court him properly… fate has a way of righting old wrongs.
Stolen from his mother’s arms and reported stillborn at birth, Tom spent nearly twenty-one years in structured captivity with other stolen omegas. His brothers. A dozen omegas, each with a secret superpower, who now must learn a whole new skill—how to thrive in a modern world.
Not every brother emerged from their past unscathed, and Tom had the worst of it. His key to survival was a healthy respect for rules. Now that he’s free, he’s still a little bit obsessive and a whole lot compulsive. He’s got anxiety, fear of change… and a list of plans for his future.
None of which involved finding a fated mate.
But if they had? His plans definitely wouldn’t have been to meet his dream alpha while smelling of afterbirth and the blood of an enemy killed in defense of his pregnant brother—the same brother whose child he then had to deliver… post-shift and naked.
If he’d been planning, if he’d made a list and checked it twice, Tom never could’ve designed an alpha more perfectly devoted than the delicious one fate put in front of him during one of the craziest days of his life… an alpha so patient, he insists on courting the skittish omega.
The West Coast Wolves is an mpreg series about five alphas. A small pack of bikers who spent years riding the highways and helping those in need until fate gave them each a pack to lead. This 85k full-length novel is Nick’s story. Prepare yourself for a romantic courtship, a perfect first kiss, and more feels and giggles than you can handle. But then again, this is a Susi Hawke book so what else can you expect?
Possible triggers for child abduction, trafficking both past and present, and haunting memories of past abuse that included both humiliation and the non-penetrative molestation of a teenager by a person in authority.

Taking my hand, Nick led me on a meandering stroll through part of the vineyard and around the back side of the house while we quietly talked about our day. When we made it to the flower garden, Nick stopped in front of the gazebo and lifted a questioning brow.
I shook my head, not wanting to stop and sit. I wanted to keep moving, to keep holding his hand. “Let me show you some of the flowers. Roses tend to overpower the nose with their perfume, but there are so many different blooms once you get away from them. The honeysuckle over here is a favorite with the bees, but my darlings are over there by the fountain.”
Nick stopped to admire the fountain and the extremely large goldfish in the pond surrounding it. Behind the water fountain were rows of daffodils, tulips, and petunias, all in differing shades of yellow, like sunshine to my heart.
“You truly love these, don’t you? We should put a chair for you over here. You can’t possibly see them from the gazebo.” He put his arm around me, his hand resting on my waist as we enjoyed the sunshine flowers.
“Oh, no. I’m afraid it would ruin them for me. If I could see these all the time, they wouldn’t be special anymore. It’s like the roses. I’m so used to them I don’t watch excitedly for new buds anymore. Sure, I enjoy them, and they are pretty to look at, but they don’t give me the same joy. You might say this is the extra-secret part of my spot.”
Somehow, we were facing each other now, my hands on his chest as he smiled down at me. “It doesn’t surprise me you would delay your pleasure, even with something as simple as a flower. There is a lot to be said for patience and denying the urge to rush to enjoy something all at once. You might say I’m becoming a fan of delayed gratification these days. Some things, the most important ones, are worth waiting for.”
I knew he was talking about us now, about me, and I loved how he made a point to put me at ease in case I was worried about going too slow. I decided to overwrite my ugly memories of Jones with one truly worth remembering. The words were out of my mouth before I had a chance to stop myself by overthinking it. “Kiss me, please. Right here, under the moonlight, with my favorite flowers as our witness. Please?”
His hands moved from my waist to cradle my face, his thumbs gently rubbing over my cheekbones. “You don’t even have to ask, little one.” He dipped his head and touched his lips to mine.
Time stood still… it was just the two of us, alone in the moonlight. With his scent surrounding me, our lips brushing so softly together, I felt as if I could float away if it weren’t for his touch keeping me anchored to our world.
It was a beautifully simple kiss, nothing more than a sweet pressing of our lips before he pulled away with a radiant smile. “Come on, little one. It’s getting late. Let me escort you to your door.”
My head was spinning from our kiss as I let him guide me inside. Precisely like when our courtship begun, Nick walked me to my bedroom and waited for me to open the door.
After I crossed the threshold and flicked on the light, I turned back to where he waited in the doorway. And precisely like every other night, he silently held his hands out for a hug. I walked into his arms, savoring the all-too-brief embrace, ending with him kissing my forehead and wishing me a good night’s sleep. Then he’d wait until I closed my door before retiring to his room directly across the hall.
And precisely like every night before, I leaned against my closed door. Patting my heart with one hand and fanning my face with the other, I questioned my life choices that had my mate sleeping in a different space.
Except every other night, I knew the answer. Because I wasn’t ready. Tonight, though? This was the first night I truly didn’t want him to leave. I didn’t need alone time, and I definitely didn’t need thinking time.
