Natural Twenty By Charlie Novak
Narrated by Joel Leslie
Roll for Love, Book One
Plants are easier than people—that’s Leo’s rule of thumb. After all, nobody really wants a man who looks like he belongs in a biker gang but would rather spend his time buried in books and flowers. It’s just easier to be single. Until he meets the owner of the new book shop.
Jacob Morris knows two things: he’s really attracted to the man who runs the local flower shop, and he doesn’t date. Not when he’s still healing from a bad breakup, has a new business to run, game nights to organise, workshops to host, and a website to build.
When friendship blooms into something more, Leo and Jay must decide whether to roll the dice and take a chance on love or keep forging ahead on their quests alone. Will their roll yield a one or a perfect, natural twenty?
Natural Twenty is an 80,000-word contemporary MM romance featuring Dungeons & Dragons, secret flower language bouquets, a spoilt Staffy (or two), and a best friend who is basically a gothic prince. It is book one in the Roll for Love series and can be read as a standalone.

Leo
“I heard that,” came a second voice from the top of the stairs. There was a clattering of footsteps, and another man appeared, clutching a cardboard box in front of him. I couldn’t see much of his face because it was hidden by both the box and a wall, but I caught a flash of dark skinny jeans and a red hoodie.
“I meant you to.”
“You said there was a visitor?”
“Yes, this lovely gentleman here.” The elven man pointed at me. The man in the hoodie turned, and I nearly swallowed my tongue.
Holy fuck. He was gorgeous.
His fluffy dark hair stuck out all over the place as if he’d run his hands through it, and he had large, dark eyes framed by thick-rimmed glasses. His full mouth curled into a smile, and I noticed a little lip ring on the side of his bottom lip. His ears were pierced too, and various rings and bars glittered in the light.
My mouth went dry, and my chest suddenly felt far too tight.
I’d always had a weakness for tattoos and piercings on people, and although I couldn’t see any of the former, the latter were definitely present. My traitorous brain immediately began wondering what might be under the long sleeves of his hoodie.
“Hi,” he said as he climbed over the cordon and down the last step, shifting his box into one hand and sticking out his other. “I’m Jay.”
“Leo.” I shook his hand while trying to force my tongue to work. I’d rather not look like a complete and utter twat in front of him. I actually wanted to be able to come in and browse, and if I couldn’t even string two words together in front of the cute guy who owned the shop, then my future as a customer was going to be very painful. “I own Wild Things. We’re the florist just down the hill a bit. I thought I’d bring you a little welcome gift. Or more of a congratulations gift, I guess.” I held the flowers out and then realised that was probably stupid since Jay was still holding the box.
“Oh, that’s so nice of you. Thank you.” He smiled, and I was mesmerized by the way the damn lip ring curled around his lip and how full and plush said lip was. He put the box on the counter and took the vase, a long finger grazing over the petals of one of the peonies. He had nice fingers.
I squashed those thoughts because they wouldn’t lead anywhere good. Maybe the six months I’d taken off from attempting to date had been a bad idea since the sight of one sexy man had me ready to malfunction.
