A boy searching for the truth.
A Daddy with a lot to hide.
Porter Jones has always lived two lives. To the world, he’s the mayor’s smart, successful and savvy chief of staff. Conservative, yet charming. Good at his job, without overshadowing his boss.
But underneath the controlled persona, Porter’s had to hide who he really is. A highly charged Dom with an unapologetically voracious appetite for sex, and that’s putting it mildly.
But when a mayoral sex scandal thrusts him into the spotlight, Porter’s private and public worlds collide. And the ruthless reporter who exposed the mayor now has his sights firmly on exposing Porter.
Declan Davies is doing life all wrong.
He’s too nice to be the ruthless reporter he needs to be to get ahead. So when he digs into the mayor’s past, he expects to maybe find a few unpaid parking tickets, not uncover Daylesford’s biggest political scandal. He can’t even do that right.
When Porter storms into Declan’s office demanding answers, sparks fly. But if Porter thinks Declan will be a pushover, he’s got another thing coming. And if Declan is obsessed with finding the truth, what will he do when he discovers who the real Porter Jones is?
REVIEW:
Porter Jones is the mayor’s chief of staff, good at what he does but he would probably be a better mayor than the current.
Porter isn’t living his true self, splitting his private life from his work. He’s a true Dom and an active member of the kink community. No one can know, it would mean the end of his career, a nightmare.
Declan Davies is a reporter, trying to get higher on the ladder. He has to score something, after finding a pic that will scandalize the mayor, he’s publishing the story. In no time a furious Porter stands at his office, demanding an explanation.
What they didn’t expect was the smoldering attraction between them. Declan isn’t the ruthless reporter Porter thought he was, he quite insecure especially about his body, he’s shy and clearly a submissive.
Something is blooming between them, Porter is first reluctant to reveal his kinky side, but he trusts Declan, even though he could easily destroy Porter by publishing and revealing his private life, Declan would never hurt him, would he? Porter’s nightmare comes true.
The story is fast-paced, entertainingly, and energetically written. I liked the story but had also trouble with a few things, firstly I wondered about ‘telling the truth’ Declan was talking about, the pic I know, but I didn’t get it, what’s the truth about it?
Second, the story tells about Daddy/boy, I couldn’t feel any Daddy/boy dynamic, third I hoped for more enemies to lovers and more hurt, it was all quite forgiving. I expected some more fire, certainly in de bedroom, because of all the talk about Porter as a highly charged Dom with an unapologetically voracious appetite for sex. It couldn’t find it in the story. It was all quite mild. So, for me, that was a bit disappointing.
It was certainly an entertaining narrative, the plot was well thought out. The way of writing was pleasant. Besides the few things I point out, it was an enjoyable experience.
