BLURB:
Hi. I heard you’ve been sick.
Eddy Pennington is recovering from a severe bout of pneumonia when an old acquaintance, Moss, sends him a message on social media. They haven’t spoken in years, but Eddy is pleasantly surprised. He always liked Moss, even if they were never close friends.
Moss Fanning has no ulterior motive with his message: all he wants is wish Eddy a speedy recovery. He got over the crush he used to have on Eddy a long time ago.
They reconnect easily and have even more in common now. And when they meet in person, the attraction is instant. Will an innocent, well-meaning message on social media lead to something more? Something deeper? Something … everlasting?
REVIEW:
Eddy is recovering from Pneumonia. His beloved sister Anne and her wife Rose have been looking after him – bringing him foot, doing what needs to be done. As he’s finally about to get back on his feet, an old acquaintance DMs him on Insta. He and Moss always got along great, but never really became friends. Then Moss moved away. But apparently he’s divorced and now back in town. They start a nice conversation and Eddy is thrilled to be in contact with him again.
Moss had always liked Eddy and now he has the opportunity to be more than his friend maybe. They have a sort of flirtatious DM conversation going and then Moss offers to take Eddy out for a walk once he’s up to it. When they do, it seems that there is definitely a spark. Eddy’s past as a bit of a manwhore is long over and he’s much more excited about the prospect of the lovely bear in his midst 🙂
Oh my. What a lovely story! As usual, Nell Iris delivers a beautiful love story in a short word count. I felt like I really understood both Moss and Eddy. Their pasts that shaped who they are as mature adults and the growth that they’ve made in the intervening years between their first introduction and the men they are today was revealed beautifully throughout the story without an info dump! Their interactions with the other characters, particularly Anne and Rosa really added the perfect context around their burgeoning relationship. Moss is a really great guy and he’s so good for Eddy in just all the best ways. They aren’t playing games and it’s a breath of fresh air for them both. Plus there is a lovely rescue dog! I just really loved this whole story. Kudos once again to this author. Highly recommended – particularly to fans of beautifully told novella length love stories.
