BLURB:
Greer Lockhart set out to save the world from itself when he organized his first beach cleanup at the age of twelve. Now, as a uber-successful venture capitalist for eco-friendly startups, he doesn’t let anything get in the way of his goals—whether personal or professional. When a new fitness app schedules a site-wide cycle race, Greer’s competitive side won’t let him back down. Not even when his undivided attention turns to the one racer he can’t beat: Biker101.
Dallas Reigns learned a long time ago to keep his head low and his focus forward. He gives his all to a business he started with his brothers, BikeBro. But he worries his all might not be enough if they can’t gain traction before their financial ship sinks. A chance meeting with a hard-hitting venture capitalist is just what they need. Until his resistance is tested when the striking blond man shows interest in more than just his company, challenging all Dallas’s etched-in-stone boundaries.
When the illusion of Dallas’s life threatens to crumble under the weight of his own desire, can he find a way to fortify his iron will, or will Greer help him breakaway from the restraints of his past?
REVIEW:
What if you have been hiding who you truly are ever since? Not because you didn’t want people to know, but because your family (parents, specifically) doesn’t want you to. What if it was ingrained in you that who you truly are is an abomination? And what if (based on a past experience), you show who you truly are, there will be repercussions that can never be altered, according to your family? What if you lose your family if you show who you truly are?
This is Dallas Reign’s reality. He has kept his real self hidden for so long that he now truly believes he is straight. It has been ingrained in him through daily bible studies, Pastor counseling several times a week, strict pray-the-gay-away summer camps since he was 14 years old. Now at the age of 27, he outwardly believes that he is totally straight. Even secret desires had been kept inside him that he is surprised to be feeling more than what he should for another man.
Dallas, with his brothers Duncan and Donny, has developed their business, BikeBro, from scratch. And now several months into it and with no financial fallback of any kind, bank loans rejected more times than they can count, they are at the brink of losing it all. They might be force to sell the whole business if they can’t find any financial investors in time.
Greer Lockhart is a Venture Capitalist. He is always on the lookout for ecofriendly startups to invest on. He is very successful and a bit egocentric but I think it is just his way of protecting himself from getting hurt, emotionally, physically and financially.
When Greer saw Dallas in a club, he never thought he has ever seen such a beautiful man in his life. Someone who is truly kind and honest. Someone who works hard and also a great friend to Skye, their mutual friend. Skye is Greer’s Physical Trainer. Skye also is Dallas’ best friend (since they were small).
Through fate, Dylan Reeves of the Secret app fame, called Greer and invited him to invest (with Dylan) in a business called BikeBro. This call happened the morning after Greer saw Dallas at the club. Dylan’s son, Chad, is a good friend of Duncan (Ducky), Dallas’ younger brother, that is how Dylan learned of the investment opportunity but he can’t do it alone because he still has other businesses to attend to. Likewise his husband, Tristan Wilder also has a lot of obligations that he doesn’t have the time to do it with him even if he really wants to.
The instant attraction that Greer felt for Dallas hasn’t waned even a little bit the next time they saw each other, and due to the fact that investing in BikeBro is really a good business decision, they will be seeing a bit of each other in the near future.
Now, when Greer is interested in something or someone, he doesn’t know the word “no.” So when he began asking Skye questions regarding Dallas, Skye gave him all the warning she could not to mess with Dallas. Dallas is a genuinely good guy. But he is also in denial (buried way deep inside himself) of who he really is. Though what Greer is feeling for Dallas is something that he didn’t expect. He sees a future with him and is prepared to wait until such time Dallas is prepared to be his real self. Meanwhile, Greer will show him how good it can be for both of them. And maybe not overwhelm Dallas with what he wants for them both, in their future.
Although at first glance, you would think these two MCs are totally different from each other but as you continue to read on and learn more about them, they are actually not that different from each other. They are both hardworking, determined and they are real good guys. They both want to do something good, not just for themselves, but for the community in general. They have some family issues they have dealt with or still dealing with it.
Ms. Kindle Alexander has once again written an epic love story between two men who are compassionate, opposites of each other (maybe at first glance), endearing and beautiful inside and out. Romance, talks that’ll make your heart full and grand gestures are all part and parcel of a Kindle Alexander love story. Her stories make you fall in love with both the characters and story. You can’t help but devour each and every page. Congratulations Ms. Alexander! I can’t wait for the next tale.
