“You do know that people have literally died driving across this bridge, right?”
“Thank you, Carrie, for that very gloomy image”
“You’re welcome. That’s what friends are for, right?”
“Guys, calm down. I’m driving and I won’t let anything happen to anyone, okay?”
“I trust you, Marge. It’s Carrie that I don’t trust.”
“Well lucky for you she isn’t the one driving”
“Good point.”
“Hey Carrie, you mind passing me that beer?”
“And you were talking about me? Guess it’s a real good thing you’re not the one driving, Dion.”
“If I was, I wouldn’t be asking you for a beer. Unlike you, I have a brain and I happen to enjoy using it.”
“You mean you love giving brain to any and every guy you meet?”
“Carrie!”
“You know what, I don’t need a girl who slept with her best friend’s brother and cheated on him to come for me.”
“Damn Dion did you have to take it there? That’s kinda harsh” “She’ll be alright.”
“Here, take your beer and chill the fuck out.”
“Thanks.”
“Marge, where are we going anyway?
“To the promised land, duh.”
“Dion, was I talking to you? Pretty sure I said Marge’s name and not yours”
“Hey, you don’t have to be so mean.”
“Says the person who just came for my love life.”
“That’s only because you came for me first, plus I was sober at that time. Now I’m feeling good. You should join me.”
“Uh, I actually want to remain sober so I can enjoy our trip.”
“You don’t even know where she’s taking us, we could be on our way to hell.”
“Didn’t you just say that we were heading towards the Promised Land?”
“Hell is the promised land, at least for people like me.”
“Dion, don’t say that. You’re gonna make me depressed.”
“Sorry Marge, got in my feelings a lil’ bit. You know being gay isn’t exactly a ticket to paradise.”
“I’m bisexual.”
“Thanks for the support, Carrie, but you’re a female, it isn’t the same.”
“How is it not the same? I go through persecution just like you”
“I’m sure in your own way you do, but you’re a white woman. You have privileges that I could never have as a black man, especially a gay black man.”
“So now you’re turning this into a race thing? Thought this was about you being gay.”
“It isn’t just about me being gay, this is the suffering that I have to go through. I know you may not understand it because it doesn’t make much sense to you but this is my life. You don’t know what I’ve had to go through simply because of who I am.”
“And you don’t know what I’ve been through either, Dion, so I suggest you shut your fucking mouth and stop being so ignorant. The world doesn’t revolve around your issues.”
“Says the ‘bisexual’ white woman.”
“Guys, that’s enough! Damn, you two act like little kids. I get where both of you are coming from but I think you just need to chill out for the rest of the ride to the park.”
“Wait, that’s where we’re going. To a park?”
“A theme park but yes, that’s where we’re going. Gotta problem with that, Carrie?”
“Nope, you’re the driver.”
“Good. Now if we’re all clear, let’s just chill the fuck out. Damn, feel like I need a fucking blunt now.”
“I got one if you want to smoke.”
“While she’s driving?”
“Uh uh, Dion, don’t start. Plus, this is different than drinking while driving, smoking helps me focus more.”
“Whatever you say, I’m gonna lie down. Let you two enjoy yourselves…”
“Oh my god! Guys! The car is being pulled back! We’re about to go into the water! Dion! Carrie!”
“Father, please deliver us from this pit. But even if you don’t, I will worship you always… Carrie? Marge? Where are you guys? What’s going on?”
“He’s awake! Quickly, check his vitals! Dion, are you with us? Can you hear me? Sir, can you hear me?”
“I..I”
“He’s passing out again, we need to revive him now! And …clear!”
