I’m being paid to spend a month on tour with Jesse Steele, to keep him safe and protect his image. Simple.
Blurb
The first rule of being a bodyguard is never get involved with your client. It should have been easy to follow, but Jesse Steele is a beautiful, kind omega, who’s far more down to earth than a pop star has any right to be.
Someone discovering our tryst becomes the least of our worries when it becomes clear Jesse has a stalker.
Can I love Jesse and protect him, or will my emotions cloud my judgement and put him in danger?
Secretly Mine is an m/m paranormal romance with a protective tiger shifter, a sweet monkey shifter, lots of cuddles, secret kisses, and piggy back rides. Whilst it is set in an alternate universe where omegas give birth, there are no pregnancy or birth scenes in this book.
Trigger warning for mentions of infertility.
“There’s a lot of reasons I shouldn’t kiss you.”
“I know. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have even asked you.” Jesse kicked a stone into the sea. “We should go back to the bus.”
“Is that what you want?”
He half turned and stared up at me. “Does it matter what I want?”
Against my screaming instincts, I hooked a knuckle under his chin and rested my thumb against his dimple. “It matters.”
He quivered beneath my touch, and the smile briefly returned to his lips. My heart hurt when it faded again.
“Tell me all the reasons you shouldn’t kiss me, Isaac.”
I raised my eyebrows.
“Please?”
“I’m your bodyguard.”
He nodded.
“I’m supposed to be protecting you. If I’m watching you, I’m not looking out for potential threats.”
“What else?”
“I’m older than you.” I was still holding his chin. I couldn’t stand the thought of not touching him.
“And?”
“You’re looking for an alpha who’ll always be there for you.”
Tears trickled from his eyes. “What if that’s you?”
“What if it’s not?”
He hunched his shoulders. “What else?”
I sucked in a breath. “Your father will kill me if he finds out I’ve touched you.”
Jesse laughed. “I’d like to see him try.”
“He’d definitely sack me.”
“Yes, he would.”
“Then I’d never see you again.”
Jesse kicked at another rock. “So that’s it, then?”
My answer should have been yes, but instead, I stayed silent.
“There’s a reason you didn’t mention.”
I cupped his small face in my large paw of a hand. “What’s that?”
“I’m a virgin. I might want to kiss you and hold you, but I’m not going to bare my arse to you. Not yet anyway.”
I chuckled. “I wouldn’t expect you to.” I wouldn’t push him into anything he wasn’t ready for.
He smiled. “I know.” His brow furrowed. “I don’t know how I know, but I do.” He clutched my shirt in his hands. “I want you, Isaac. You make me feel safe. You’re there for me. You make me smile. And I really, really want you to kiss me.”
My body came alive at the knowledge that he wanted me because, mercy help me, I wanted him too. I stooped down and, in the darkness of the deserted beach, pressed my lips to his and kissed him softly.
