An Immortal Biker Daddy walks into a bar…
Abbott McClain is on the run.
An infamous human trafficker and murderer is hot on his heels, and he has nowhere to go. When his car breaks down in a small Texas town, he has no choice but to seek help from a biker bar in the middle of nowhere. After a lifetime of rejection, he doesn’t want to trust anyone ever again. But when he meets a blue-eyed bear at the bar who promises him kindness and protection, he desperately wants to believe that this time things will be different.
James Alan Cutter is on a mission.
As a member of an immortal motorcycle club entrusted with protecting humanity, he shouldn’t be taking time off for romance. But something about Abbott stirs his Daddy nature.
When evil stalks the boy Cutter has fallen for, his brothers in arms come together to protect their love.
REVIEW:
Sometimes we just need to have someone take care of us, most especially if we have been so alone, doing things on our own in order to survive. When it turned out that the people we trusted are the ones who let us down and rejected us, we try to cling on to the next person who shows care and attention. But sometimes trusting someone that much can result to even more dire situations. Then all we can do is to wish and dream of someone to come along to save us and truly just care for us beyond the superficial level, wish for someone who doesn’t expect to get something in return for the attention they gave us.
When Abbott was rejected by his family for being gay, and then was taken in by someone he thought truly cared for him but only to find out that that person is someone hideous and a criminal, all he could do was run before the situation becomes even more desperate. When his bought used car broke down in the middle of nowhere in Texas, he had to brave going into a bikers’ bar in order to ask for help (there were no other places to asked help from in the remote area). There he finds his “Dream Biker Daddy” who was kind enough to look at his car.
Cutter’s death during the Vietnam paved way to becoming an immortal warrior for an elite group who chooses those who died doing something brave in order to save other people. Upon his death, he was offered to become one of the chosen to become a soldier of Odin in the Valhalla Warriors. He accepted and now his group of warriors are here to protect humanity and help those who need help.
Abbott was with Lyle (the person who supposedly took him in, clothe and fed him) for almost five years. Lyle is the reason he is running. He took what Lyle dished out to him because at that time, he didn’t know any better but the hole that Lyle tried to put him in kept getting deeper and deeper until such time Abbott had no choice but to run away, successfully this time (it was his second attempt). What he thought was kindness and care was only a ploy to eventually turn him into a prostitute and keep him tied down to Lyle.
Ms. Rosie Jarvis is a first-time writer in the genre of MM romance and this is her first work. I want to congratulate her because it is good. There are still so much room to grow in terms of the speed or continuity in which the story progressed. There were instances in the story where things happened too fast, although it could be that the storyline required for it. But the storyline is good, the characters are well-written, the back story was gradually revealed. Both Cutter and Abbott are endearing. All in all a very good start on a promising series of Immortal Bikers.
