Will a trans prince’s fake engagement end in love?
Blurb
His Royal Highness Morgan Schuyler, an aggressively toppy trans man, wants nerdy Lin Callahan the moment he sees him. When a hurricane in the Atlantic grounds their flight, Morgan seizes the opportunity to share a hotel suite with his petite, cis lust object. Their torrid fling ends with the flight to New York City, but a coffee shop run-in reveals they’re attending the same posh fine arts grad school.
While they’re both still daydreaming about that weekend together, neither will admit it. Feelings are awkward, and Morgan refuses to have them for anyone but his childhood best friend, Carmen. As for Lin…his ex-boyfriend has moved cross-country in an attempt to rekindle a romance that doesn’t hit the same since that weekend in France.
When Morgan’s forced to choose between an arranged marriage and presenting his parents with a fake fiancé, he’ll need to navigate his attraction to Lin without catching feelings. How is it possible to want someone so much and yet be so terrified of their emotional intimacy? Maybe that’s why Morgan still hasn’t told Lin he’s royalty…
This 73k contemporary m/m trans #ownvoices romance combines perennial favorite tropes such as the Secret Royal with a Fake Relationship, Stranded with Only One Bed, a Fling in Europe leading to Unrequited Love and a Second Chance, and ultimately a Return to Hometown for a Playboy Prince as True Love mends a Fractured Family.

Lin was driving Morgan crazy. He thought he’d probably be okay if he could just find someone else to fixate on, but despite the fact New York City was literally eighty-six times the population of the entire principality of Lidonia, no one else could hold Morgan’s attention.
It should’ve been easy getting worked up for some strange but, every single time, Morgan’s thoughts drifted back to Lin.
Lin’s smile, his puppy dog eyes, the way he hunched his shoulders into his hoodie to hide because he was always embarrassed…
Infuriating, really. Morgan had more important things to think about right now. His whole life was about to come crashing around his ears in less than a month if he didn’t play his cards just right.
At least his collection was coming along beautifully. Once he’d gotten Lin’s shirt and coat measurements, everything pulled together just so. Something about Lin inspired Morgan, unlocking a part of his brain, his creativity, that so often lay dormant or out of conscious reach.
“Okay, I think that’s it for this evening,” Morgan said as he finished checking the fit of his muslin mockup. He lay aside his marker and then polished off the Hot Toddy he’d been nursing to stave off a cold. “You shouldn’t have to do any more fittings with me until the show.”
Giving Lin’s ass a friendly swat, he urged him off the stand. “I know you’re entering crunch time with your project before winter break starts, so I won’t keep you unless you want keeping.”
Morgan’s mischievous smile made that a flirt, though he honestly didn’t know what he’d do if Lin took him up on it. Considering the state of his sore throat, both kissing and blowjobs were off the table.
“Yeah. The projects keep piling on, as if my term project wasn’t enough.” Lin carefully stripped off the clothes Morgan had designed. “Been putting off the figure study. Haven’t really had to do one in years, but this time it has to be… you know, interpreted in my style, and I’m just… having trouble getting inspired.”
Lin was funny sometimes. He could be very direct about where he wanted to go, what he wanted for dinner. But more personal matters? So awkward. The studious way Lin avoided Morgan’s gaze suggested he wanted to ask for Morgan’s help.
Morgan deliberated for all of thirty seconds before he smiled mischievously and struck a pose on impulse. “You’ve never seen me really naked, have you, puppy? Maybe that would be inspiring. You helped me with my project, so it’s only fair I help you with yours. If you don’t get it done tomorrow, I think you’re going to have to take the L. Winter break’s about to start…”
Turning on his heel, Morgan posed with his back to Lin, ass pushed out, looking at him over his shoulder. “I’d hate for you to get a disappointing score.”
“You’d really do that? I mean… it’s naked. Which. I mean. I guess. I don’t know what I’m supposed to say.” Lin was blushing, but the front of his pants didn’t lie about his interest. “I have a studio? Or we could do it at my place? I guess that would be good. Less chance of someone random walking in. But all my stuff is at the studio. Um. Yeah. You’d be very inspiring. If you want to. I mean….”
Lin’s floundering stoked the pleasure fire blazing in Morgan’s gut.
Finally Lin stuttered, “Yes. Please?”
Together, Texans and platonic life partners Thursday Euclid and Clancy Nacht write queer novels that span genres, with intense romances and a seamless shared narrative voice.
They published their first co-written novel, the m/m rock star romance Black Gold, in 2010, and now have over a decade of award-winning collaborations under their exquisite belts. Recent titles include the twisted romance His Fake Prison Daddy and the Phisher King series, in which an uptight federal agent and a bratty hacker go from enemies to lovers while solving a hate crime.
Though Elder Millennial trans man Thursday and Gen X gender outlaw Clancy live three hours apart, they are inseparable. Their friendship is a perfect example of the Grumpy/Sunshine trope, which makes Thursday very happy. Clancy thinks it’s all right.
