REVIEW:

Well, I didn’t see that coming!

Kevin needs money to fund himself through art school and his friends puts him in touch with a man who could offer him that and more. Sandro is rich and sexy and looking for a boy to spoil, but only for a year. On Sandro’s island, with no technology and plenty of time, Kevin cooks, paints and falls in love. The question is, does Sandro feel the same and what is behind the white door, he’s been forbidden from ever opening?

Even though things started out as a financial arrangement, slipping into the trope of rent boy and sugar daddy, this was, in fact, a sweet love story. Kevin and Sandro play together with gentle kink and lots of snuggles under warm blankets. The writing is, for want of a better description, warm and cozy, just like Sandro’s house, filled with rich detail and humour.

Kevin is a tease but not a brat. Sandro is a Daddy but not an overbearing one and they are undeniably sweet together. However, the secret door hangs like the sword of Damocles and with their year’s contract coming to an end, Kevin is anxious and more invested than he has ever been. When he discovers what is behind the door, his world both falls apart and is filled with everything he ever wanted.

I won’t spoil the secret because it’s explosive and, at least to me, a complete surprise. The author does a great job of building slowly to a climax that in no way disappoints.

I loved Kevin and his character goes through a lot of growth and development. Sandro is more of an enigma, and frankly didn’t play a big enough part in the story to present much evidence of growth. He was a steady background, an anchor in Kevin’s changing world. Kevin is sassy, cute and brave and he gives his Daddy a run for his money. He’s adorable, and I would love to see more of him.

This is a cute, gentle little slice of Daddy kink that is strangely satisfying and well written. It’s worth reading just for that ending.
