Angel DeLucca is one of the most sought after gay bachelors in Virginia Beach. He’s smart, successful, lethal, and more than anything he’s drop dead gorgeous. When a one night hook-up goes terribly wrong, Angel comes into contact with the breathtaking Maximus “Max” Strong.
Max is a firefighter for the Virginia Beach Fire Department. Max is beautiful, charming, and also very straight. One meeting with the mysteriously sexy Angel DeLucca and a whiff of that silky, jet black hair, Max finds himself questioning everything he’s known to be true about himself. Max tries desperately to understand the new feelings he has for another man and turns to his gay, older brother…Ryker.
Ryker has always been Max’s protector and his guide their entire lives, which has left him feeling uncared for and alone to handle his own life’s problems. Ryker craves to be taken care of, he craves the attention and praise of a Master. No one knows the dark desires within him until Angel’s Chief of Security, Sebastian “Bass” Bagatelli, shatters that secret with their first intense encounter.
REVIEW:
The Blue Moon Series is written by the amazing Ms. A.E. Via, and the audiobooks were read by Mr. Tim Paige. “Blue Moon Too Good To Be True” is the first book. This book contains three parts wherein three different couples are being focused on. Part One focuses on Angel and Max. Part Two will be on Ryker, Max’s older brother, and Sebastian/Bass, Angel’s Head of Security. Part Three will be a start on the unlikely attraction between Agent Fox and Shot, Angel’s Navy Seal Dad.
Being so attractive has its own pitfalls too. Because you know you are pleasing to the eyes, you sometimes become shallow and shy away from commitment. But when you are also popular and own your own business with a reputation of casual sex, it gets to a point when you get tired of it all. You wish for more but by now most people don’t want commitment, just hookups and casual liaisons. This is how Angel feels now.
Nowadays most people believe and live the mantra that “Love is Love,” so no matter the gender of the person you are attracted to, it doesn’t really matter to that person as long as the feelings are real and welcome. In our chaotic world, finding that special someone is challenging enough without adding homophobia and discrimination into it.
Max has never felt for another man what he felt when he met Angel. His firehouse was onto the scene of a false fire alarm call in the club owned by Angel deLucca. Maybe it was lust at first sight or truly love at first sight. The man awakened feelings in him that he had never felt for a man before. He didn’t shy away from these feelings, he was willing to accept it. He can also plainly see that Angel feels the same for him.
Ryker has been taking care of Max since their mother died and since their father couldn’t be bothered to take care of them but instead aimed to hurt them (Ryker in particular) every chance he gets, which is more often than not. Ryker got used to it that he doesn’t really know how to relinquish control. He has been looking (secretly) for a Dom who would love, accept and trust him with respect.
Sebastian/Bass has been looking for his Sub for a long time. The last Sub he was with cheated on him, and from then on he has been very careful not to get hurt again. Meeting Ryker has been a “blessing” after almost losing hope of ever finding his perfect “boy.”
Part Two focuses on Ryker and Bass who both have been looking for that perfect person who can both relinquish and accept someone taking care of them. Both MCs have had their fair share of painful pasts that had made them very careful of not being involved with people who are not as committed to a certain lifestyle as they are. Ryker has always taken care of his brother and he feels “neglected” sometimes so he has been longing for someone to take care of him.
Part Three was a little surprising for me because Agent Fox came into the story only when Angel got abducted by a Drug Lord who thought Angel was encroaching into his territory. The feeling of animosity between him and Angel’s father turned into something else as they continue to be aware of each other in the process of getting Angel back from his abductors.
When Shot and his Beastmasters learned that Angel’s tracking chip has been activated, he knew that something bad happened to his son and so his team readily got on their way to Blue Moon. With the cooperation of his team, Bass and two Special Agents, Fox and Monroe, they planned out how to retrieve Angel back before the 24 hours given are up. The kidnappers will be calling after that to cite their demands.
Shot has not been in any kind of relationship for a few years now, he has been too busy with work, missions, his teammates and his Son. His attraction to the very tall Agent surprised him. It seems that they both feel the same and that Agent Fox is not scared of him at all, in fact he gets turned on whenever Shot tries to be scary.
Wow! This book has been an awesome and truly amazing listen. Mr. Tim Paige was able to lend his voice to all these Alphas phenomenally. Voicing all these different characters must have been a big challenge but he was able to do it with such distinction and individuality. Ms. A.E. Via is one of the best writers we have in the genre, and teaming with Mr. Paige to give more life to her characters is such a fantastic treat that you will crave to listen to the next one. I myself can’t wait to get into Book Two.
